yeah, it's absurd enough that until they actually announce it I don't want to believe it, but given the sheer number of sources saying so, and the fact that they haven't done any PR spin on it makes it seem like it is at least a possibility.

They knew from the outset what they were getting into w/"always online" so public outrage wouldn't change that since they knew it would already be the public reaction. Keep in mind that most ppl, even though they bitch and hate the idea, will most likely still buy it in the end. It will 100% hurt their sales, but they knew this from the start w/o the public outcry.

My best guess for the delay is to let the Orith bs settledown. Because publicly confirming "always online" 2 weeks after the Orith crap will just make it worse and there is no way their PR team can soften the blow. I mean who wants to publicly confirm the "always online" when online sites are still running the "always online - deal w/it" stuff

I thought as much on the push back. Might be too late however. Of course, they will probably start commercials and promoting their system far ahead of whatever scheduled timetable they had, and certainly before the Sony PR team begins promotions. It's the only real way to counteract what just went down.

It isn't good for Microsoft at all. Sony is apparently supposed to have another conference of some kind late April/early May. This would mean that Sony gets to run this one unopposed again and get even more traction and hype. At the very least, Microsoft needs to announce officially that a new system at least exists so that they don't further abandon their fans.

you can buy them now at retail stores. its 99 + 2 years of Xbox live at 14.99 a month.

If you stop paying they basically hit you with early termination fees.

11. EARLY TERMINATION FEES.

The ETF is intended to provide reasonable compensation to Microsoft for the losses it suffers when a customer cancels the Xbox LIVE Subscription (and does not remain a customer for the full term of the Agreement). The ETF is part of this Offer and is not a penalty.

assuming the rumor prices are correct, and there is no different between the subscription unit and a regular unit, you are basically going to be paying $660 in the long run or $160 dollars more then what it would be to just buy a regular unit out right.

Also, if you are currently a gold subscriber, the rest of what you have left on it wont be used till AFTER your 2 year agreement.
