Zoids was my shit back in the day. Already burned through that one recently.

Though, I never got to watch zoids fuzors or w/e one was next and can't find a torrent worth a fuck for it either.

Cheezus, Zoids was badass. Also, despite being kinda depressing, I'm gonna have to give Blue Gender another runthrough just to hear the DBZ cast. Didn't pick up on it last time.

Neon Alley(Viz's dubbed anime block) on PS3/360 is nice. http://www.neonalley.com/

They're going to premiere Accel World's dub April 19th.

I planning on reactivating my sub again with them.

I thought the Mobile Suit Gundam (0079) dub was pretty good, but it is possible that I just got used to it.

FLCL dubs are my favorite...I'm a Steve Blum fan(I guess a lot of people dislike him? idk) so I'll watch most of his that I can. I also can second Blue Gender, solid series in general but the dubs are decent, it's on Netflix last I checked.

I don't think people hate Blum. Was just a point where it seemed like he was in everything, often opposite Wendy Lee.

Blum has the best voice in the business D: (actually saddened someone might dislike his manliness!) but honestly i'd kill some people for a voice like that >.>

I think people hated Blum for how he did Cloud in KH/AC etc? I personally didn't think he did Cloud right, but I blame the voice director more than Blum, considering he does various other voices that are fucking awesome. You'd never think that the same person who did Cloud also did Grunt.

Steven Jay Blum? He's only voiced Vincent in the FF7 media. Steve Burton is Cloud's VA in all media.

The gundams are invincible, making most 'battles' pointless with no stakes. The actions of every character, named or not, whether it comes to combat, politics, whatever, make little to no sense. The events that take place are generally poorly explained or just not explained. The characters are all one dimensional, and the overall plot is nothing special.

It's just as terrible as gundam seed destiny, if not worse.
Nigga you trippin'. Never utter such nonsense again. The nerve of you to say Wing is bad, even more to say it is as bad as SEED Destiny. The politics made sense if you sat down and actually tried to figure it out. It was only near the end of the series did the politicking start to get nonsensical, but only because of the element of "space politics" was heavily emphasized.

The Gundams were meant to be "strong" in this series, as they had already explained "Gundanium Alloy"-- the suits made from the material were vastly stronger to any common mobile suit made at the time. Even so, the opposition eventually caught up with them and started giving the Gundam pilots trouble. The only Gundams in any series that should be called "invincible" should be Turn A and Turn X Gundam, since they can destroy all technology (between Earth and Jupiter) in a single attack. Also Shining Finger, a shield to all nuclear attacks, 100% invisibly cloaking, regeneration, teleportation (including teleporting beam attacks into enemy cockpits) and other bullshit. At the Gundams in Wing were simply just tough to defeat.

Combat in the series isn't actually isn't too farfetched from reality (now anyways). It moved around between conventional and unconventional warfare, and ended up with the Gundam pilots going up against Mobile Dolls, technology similar to military drones of today (no pilot, so increased combat capability vs opponents without fear of life lost).

All of the events that take place are fleshed out fully, however you have to watch to the very end to see many of the character's stories and motivations fully explained to the viewer. Finally, almost all of the characters are multi-dimensional, minus a few characters, like Noin. I do agree however that the overall plot was nothing special, as it was already a re-imaging of 0079 in a number of ways.

Wing is no 00, or even 0079, but it's still a solid enough Gundam series. The "FFVII" of Gundam shows, really. There are way worse series to be had (SEED Destiny, AGE, Victory, G-Saviour, SD Gundam).

Edit: Actually, I will agree on the "near invincible status" of the Gundams in the series. It does take away from the story. However, I look past the fact only because they had an explanation for the haxpower.

Wing focused way more on political and social problems causing huge issues on society rather than mech fights.

All of the pilots were fucked. The only real exception you can make is Duo and even he had issues.

Wow, excellent post Edel. Pretty much captures the beauty of Gundam Wing, outside of it's specific flaws.

This may be in the anime sub-forum, but fuck it—what I'm going to suggest isn't anime, although it was definitely inspired by it.

Have you thought about watching any of the recent, well-made animated series that are based on domestic properties? You'll get much higher quality voice actors, and obviously, the shows will be in English. There's a chance you've already watched all of these, but since I haven't any idea, I'll suggest them anyway:

    Teen Titans
    Avatar: The Last Airbender
    Justice League Unlimited
Batman: The Brave and the Bold

As for "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" in particular, it's deliberately ridiculous, and is therefore hilarious. A fantastic example is an episode that features Aquaman, who is voiced by John DiMaggio—the same guy who provides the voice for Bender in "Futurama"—desperate to be taken along on someone's adventures:

If you can watch that and fail to be interested in the show afterward, I will forever be disappointed in you. (If you've already seen it, you're forgiven.)

The majority of the modern DC animated movies are good (such as "Batman: Under the Red Hood"), unlike their current comics, ironically enough. There are definitely other series you can look into, but those are the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

I watched like 3 episodes of BatB and it was the worst thing I'd ever seen, lol. Teen Titans, on the other hand, was awesome
