While I mostly agree also hate when you would spend so much time gathering people together for that 1 time a week to watch one guy spend an extra 10 minutes in dialog (who is also invariably the guy that can't warp himself out to next place and takes the longest walking) making it so you gotta put off more for the next week lol. Thank god for cs goblins

LOL I was that guy but only for a bit. I came prepared and used warp clubs and scrolls. Fortunately.. I learned to read and watch those CSes super fast and skipped them when people were short on time.

Ultimately Sea and Rajas were a little more important.

I just tell the people who try to rush me that they can easily be replaced. 9 times out of 10 they stfu, otherwise I stay true to my word and replace them.

Granted, there are exceptions: people who took forever to come through cutscenes on the mammets/ultima/omega CoP mission made me want to punch an infant

Anything where success isn't determined by the ticking of the clock though, go die if you try to rush me through the immersion!

Tarutaru as a whole do act scared, but notable individuals always transcend that supposed flaw they have, Shantotto, Ajidu-Marujido, Atori-tutori. none of them seem to ever fear anything.

I always assumed that those who can overcome the inherent flaws of their race are the ones that become very powerful. Shantotto, Ajidu-Marujido, Atori-tutori - or you, as an adventurer. You know, Limit Break and all that. Whereas the ones that embrace their racial flaw becomes evil, like Shadow Lord or Eald'narche.

Note the Tarutaru who buck the cowardice trend on that list tend to be individuals who adopt a strategy of taking the initiative to avoid being put in a pickle, fronting arrogance and overwhelming power to shield themselves from their own personal insecurities. Nothing can scare me if its a pile of ash first.

Karaha-Baruha feels bad he wasn't on the list.

I mean jeez, what hasn't Karaha done? Pre-WOTG he was known as the hero who saved Windurst but that was before we knew he in fact fucked up and failed Windurst, joined Liliths merry band, hitched a ride to the past, goes AWOL from the Spitewardens, adopts a dead mans identity, runs Windurst's military from the shadows, puts Lehko Habhoka in the upper echelons of government, teams up with his past self to bind Fenrir to his will, saves Windurst and was the secret lover of the Star Sibyl?

    All while rolling a SMN/BLM.

I personally am a huge fan of the story involving Gunther Schultz and Count Bifrons. Bifrons is the actual devil, it's ridiculous.

I'm with this dude. Count Bifrons went from a funny gamefaqs story to a bona fide badass.

My issue with Karaha's storyline is it's reliance on multiple time hops! The whole way we we we we travelling through time and space. Without us he'd be nothing! If we were never to be, Schultz still would've been playing chess with Bifrons.

This is obviously in addition to the fact he's a tarutaru; and I can think of a few times he shows cowardice. Or better said, trepidation.

I've also always been a fan of Rishfee. The poor Immortal bodyguard to Aphmau who dies in Jade Sepulcher, he was in love with her! Or maybe that's headcanon. And maybe it's because he's model. But POOR RISHFEE. I CAN SEE YOUR ACTINTIC BURST IN THE GLINT OF THE EYE OF EVERY CHILD IN ARAJIDAH.

edit: and unfh unfh Karaha reminds me of never learning Aquila or Haudrale's true identities!

Yeah I felt bad for Rishfee considering he was one of the few Blue Mages who wasn't batshit insane. I recall the Galka BLU from the COR AF3 BCNM that starts speaking in gibberish as his mind turns into a beautiful crimson jelly.

Speaking of insanity, Raubahn is one of my favorite characters from TOAU because of his internal struggle with his spell list. Taking Cid off the table, Raubahn is a pretty scary dude and it has everything to do with being that damned bald Hume model. One minute he's mentoring you on what happens to Blue Mages that lose control of themselves, the next he's threatening to devour your soul Shang Tsung style and thats all the warm up to killing Amnaf after she goes all squidface with blood pouring from his hands like a boss.

Blue Mage in this game generally has been handled well. They're all varying levels of insane and its awesome.

Envy got touched upon in the WoTG Windurst storyline when the male mithra is explaining about the Bow of Light and how everyone fought over it.

Pretty sure Eald'narche is separate from the other five races.

    Yeah Eald is a Zilart.

And also, I fucking love this thread. All those story lines were amazing. Especially the Windy WotG quest line. Between summoning Fenrir and watching the Mithra go blind from using the bow. Even when you knew it was all coming, it was still amazing.

Just another example of Windurst having the vastly superior storyline
