Square Enix is thrilled announce Bloodmasque - an innovative new action RPG for iOS devices - is now available via Apple’s App Store for $6.99/£4.99/€5.99.

Set in an alternate vision of 19th century Paris, Bloodmasque pits players against a vampire-controlled society. Hunters can use their iOS device’s built-in camera to scan their face into the game and appear as the main character.

Additional noteworthy features include

• Control finesse: Bloodmasque was designed with the touch screen in mind. Intuitive controls let you tap to attack and swipe to dodge as you combat a diverse monster’s gallery.

• Spectacle: Unreal Technology powered action renders large-scale combatants and beautifully drawn stages smoothly and in terrific detail. Stirring orchestral arrangements accompany the action and take the sense of immersion to new highs.

• Customization: Take a photo or use an existing one to see yourself in action against the vampires, or mix and match facial features, hairstyles, and skin tones to create a character all your own. Add pleased and angry expressions to see your hunter react in cinematic scenes and combat.

• Comrades-at-arms: Recruit hunters which other players have made and fight evil alongside the familiar faces of your friends.

Today, Ubisoft announced that the legendary saga Prince of Persia continues with the new mobile episode Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame, available now on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch as well as on Android devices, through Google Play and Amazon, at a price of $2.99/£1.99.

Developed by Ubisoft Pune, Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame follows the storyline of the original game, released 20 years ago. It is set after the events of Prince of Persia Classic, successful mobile title also developed by Ubisoft Pune.

Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame will allow players to explore various state-of-the-art environments in visually-stunning 3D with intuitive controls designed for touchscreens. Among plenty of new features, the players will now be able to choose between gesture-based touch controls or the classic virtual joystick. The combat system has also been improved with multiple enemies, tactical challenges and a brand new combo system.

The game’s experience can still be extended through social connectivity, allowing to unlock achievements and ascend the leaderboards or to share scores with Facebook integration.

Square Enix and Idea Factory have something in common. Both companies have a dating sim-like game with characters from the Arthurian legend. While Princess Arthur puts you in the shoes of a girl who becomes king and can date different knights, Yui-Itsu-Sei Million Arthur turns the Lancelot and other knights into women.

From left to right we have, Gawain, Lancelot, Arthur, Tristan, and Mabinogion.

In Yui-Itsu-Sei Million Arthur players set out to explore uncharted areas, fight monsters, and make Arthur stronger. As Arthur levels up, the game’s story gets unlocked.

Plenty of companies have been trying to replicate GungHo Online Entertainment’s breakout success with Puzzle & Dragons. Puzzle meets monster battling RPG is practically its own genre now.

Puzzle & Dragons is still the king, but Electronic Arts might give them a run for their money with Tetris Monsters. The game is exactly what it sounds like – a monster collecting game with Tetris instead of a match three gem board.

What is PlayStation All-Stars Island?

PlayStation All-Stars Island is a joint promotion with Coca-Cola Zero offering FREE to download mobile games for IOS and Android.

The game takes place on the PlayStation All-Stars Island and consists of a collection of smaller game experiences using themes from various PlayStation franchises. Games are based on successful PlayStation IPs – Uncharted, LBP Karting, inFAMOUS and Gravity Rush. Players will be able to earn special Coke Zero moves within the game that ‘make the impossible possible’ e.g. Drake and Cole enter the LBP world.

Which game characters are included?

The four main characters are Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet Karting), Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Cole MacGrath (Infamous) and Kat (Gravity Rush).

In addition to the above, four bonus characters (Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank) will also appear in the Coke Zero Moves.

How does the game play work?

The ‘All-Stars Island’ is a fictional, fantasy island that has been created to host the best and most exciting characters from PlayStation games. The Island is divided into 4 zones, with each zone representing one franchise (Uncharted, LBP Karting, Infamous and Gravity Rush) and containing a mini game.

All the mini games are based on successful mobile game play and are endless, allowing the player to keep going until they fail.

Players are tasked with collecting Coke Zero orbs that are used to unlock special Coke Zero ‘MAKE IT POSSIBLE’ moves. There is one experience bar per mini game, per character and the player must fill all of the board to have all of the special moves.

On what device can I play the game?

The game is available to download free across iOS and Android platforms starting this summer.

How can I access the game?

A QR code on the label of participating Coca-Cola Zero bottles will offer players exclusive downloads as well as access to Coke Zero booster moves.

Ultima Forever: Quest of the Avatar

Electronic Arts have an Ultima RPG available on iTunes that’s an online, multiplayer action-RPG where you can team up with friends, explore the world, take on dungeons, and must eventually cure a plague named the Black Weep. Titled Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar, the game was released this past week.

Ultima Forever has you taking on missions from Lady British, daughter of Lord British, in order to save the land of Britannia. EA describe the game as the first major Ultima title in 16 years.

Like a lot of other iOS games, Ulima Forever is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. You can purchase rings of various keys to help you progress, and EA have been updating the game with graphical improvements and other tweaks to make the experience more pleasant.

Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar is out now on iOS devices and is headed to Android at a later date.

Tales of Hearts R, Namco Bandai’s PS Vita remake of DS’s Tales of Hearts, is now available on iOS in Japan.

The 1.56 gigabyte game costs a launch celebratory price of 1,800 yen until October 15, when it will jump back to 3,800 yen.

Anyone able to recommend some good, persistent, -non emulated RPGs or even rogue-likes? I had fun with Dektop Defenders and Legends of Yore, which had pleasant UIs for a phone, but wanted something a little more serious.
