Doctor Who: Legacy is a new, free-to-play mobile game expected in time for the BBC franchise’s upcoming anniversary celebrations.

According to the game’s new Twitter account, it’s coming to Android and iOS soon; as it’s also described as a celebration of the franchise’s 50th anniversary, we can probably expect it somewhere around the release of The Day of The Doctor, towards the end of this month.

DigitalSpy reports the new game is being developed by Tiny Rebel Studios and Seed Studios.

    Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
    (Android/iOS/Kindle/Windows)
Before GTAV took us to the sun-bleached sidewalks and humming concrete freeways of present-day Los Santos and beyond, there was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the biggest GTA of the PS2 era. Now, head back to the early 90s with CJ and the Grove Street Families when Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes to mobile devices next month.

Encompassing Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7. It will be available for select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead.

Nvidia's next mobile GPU, dubbed the Tegra K1, will boast a 192 CUDA core processor, Nvidia CEO and co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang announced at CES today.

Huang said the 192 cores of the Kepler-based architecture in the Tegra K1 are "all fully programmable, all massively parallel." The next-generation Tegra chip, Huang said, is more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 while using a fraction of the wattage.

"We've brought mobile computing to the same level as desktop computing," Huang said at Nvidia's CES press conference. "We've brought mobile computing to the same level as super computing. We've brought the heart of GeForce and the soul of Tesla to the Tegra family."

To reinforce the power of Nvidia's Tegra K1, which supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.4 technologies, Huang also announced that Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 would support the new chip.

"We can take absolutely anything that runs on PC or high-end console and run it on Tegra," said Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney in a prepared statement. "I didn't think that we'd be at this level on mobile for another 3-4 years."

Nvidia illustrated Tegra K1's graphics power with a handful of demos, including one that showed a human head with realistic rim lighting and subsurface scattering and another that highlighted the particle effects, HDR lighting and global illumination K1 is capable of. Real-time demonstrations of UE4 running on Tegra K1 were also shown, as was gameplay from a custom version of Trine 2.

The Tegra K1 will come in two variations, Huang announced, one with a 32-bit quad A15 CPU (up to 2.3 GHz) and one with dual 64-bit Denver CPUs (up to 2.5 GHz). In a release, Nvidia announced that the 32-bit version of Tegra K1 will start showing up in devices in the first half of 2014, with the 64-bit version arriving in the second half of the year.

Aero, from Mega Man Legends 3, is teased for Sound Rangers

    Spoiler: show
Back in September, we shared news of a Capcom game titled Sound Rangers: Rhythm and Battle!, a rhythm game for iOS devices. In Sound Rangers, the gameplay is a mix of standard rhythm game tapping and performing combos via mini-games to beat the Sound Rangers’ enemies.

Earlier today, Capcom teased via Twitter that a new character will be making an appearance in Sound Rangers, and it looks like Aero from the cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 project. While the project was in development, Aero’s design was voted on by fans. Her final look was created by Shinsuke Komaki and Tokiko Nakashima.

Aero isn’t the first Mega Man character that has made a cameo in Sound Rangers. In the past, the game has introduced stages featuring the original Mega Man, as well as Cut Man and Flash Man.

Namco Bandai and CyberConnect2 usually work together as publisher and developer on Naruto games (and more recently, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle), but they’re also working on a new smartphone project, according a teaser website.

The text on the website’s countdown page reads: “The adventure will be courageously endearing,” along with a description that says “New smartphone project, announcement in 6 days.”

While we don’t have any clues as to what it could be, the vintage map certainly has a One Piece vibe to it, which would also make sense when you consider Namco Bandai’s part in the project.

    Dragon Sky
    (Android/iOS)
Dragon Sky is an upcoming real-time strategy smartphone game from Square Enix. Its battle screenshots look kind of like Clash of Clans and we know you’ll collect units in the form of cards. In a promotional video, we see that you get a quick glance at the illustrations—beautiful as always—for some of them such as the Witch and Thief.

The real-time game will allow players to build up a base and then go blow someone else’s up, though how isn’t being specific just yet. You’re the protagonist who has been summoned to the world of Dragon Sky by the dark dragon Agus and now, well, all we really want to do is go home. No ruby slippers around, however.

    Hitman Go
We’re very excited about the new Hitman game that our friends at Io-Interactive are developing, but as you might know, we’re creating other Hitman-related things here and we want to share some of our plans with you.

We’ve been working hard here at Square Enix Montréal to come up with unique tablet/smartphone games that would fit the Hitman franchise (yes we said it: tablet/smartphone – let us explain). We had total creative freedom to explore this and see what we could come up with – something separate to the AAA game that is being developed at IOI, but something which still retained the essence of what a Hitman game is. This was a lot of fun and we decided to develop something quite different and, we hope, totally unexpected.

So, we’d like to introduce you to Hitman GO.

Hitman GO is a turn-based strategy game with beautifully rendered diorama-style set pieces. You will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate well-guarded locations. You really have to think about each move and all the Hitman tools of the trade you would expect are included; disguises, distractions, sniper rifles and even 47’s iconic Silverballers.

We developed the game with a small core team, which allowed us to iterate fast, come up with solutions more easily and embrace a development style that felt very fresh for us. When we pitched this slightly leftfield concept to the team at IOI, they absolutely loved it. Now, Hitman GO is almost ready for launch and you might even read about it online in the coming weeks as we do some testing to make sure it’s all working properly before we launch it globally.

We know not all of you will love mobile games but for those who are interested, we’ll share news with you here from time to time. Our next update may be sooner than you think as we’ve been working on something else here at Square Enix Montréal that fits perfectly within the Hitman fantasy – and you won’t have to wait too long for it either…!

And now it’s over to you. We know this isn’t a huge amount of information to go on, but we’re very eager to know what you think. You can send a tweet to either @SquareEnixMtl or @Hitman – or take to the forums.

But now, we’ll hand the blog back to the IOI guys to talk a bit more about the next AAA Hitman game again.

    Thanks for reading,

Namco Bandai has announced Tales of Asteria, a new RPG for iOS and Android featuring Tales characters from previous games in a brand new story.

The scenario writer of the Tales series will handle the game’s story, which brings together Cress, Lloyd, Luke, Yuri, Sophie, and Milla. Here’s a snippet:
Fragments of a star that makes wishes come true…

In a world where disputes over the fragments continue, six chosen people will draw out a solution…
The game will feature voice acting and a new tap-based “cross slide battle” system.

Wit Studio, known for its work on Attack on Titan and Hoozuki no Reitetsu, is in charge of the game’s opening animation. And Do As Infinity will sing the game’s theme song.

Pre-registration opened up at the game’s official website today, making it possible to obtain Tales of Xillia‘s Milla Maxwell as soon as service begins.

Tales of Asteria will launch in Japan this spring.

999: The Novel is now out for iPhone and iPad

It removes the puzzle gameplay from 999 but retains the visual novel aspect (i.e. deciding which door to enter, and with whom). The graphics have gotten a facelift, including the backgrounds.
