I can kinda see where Harajuku is coming from, just from personal experience I've had with some gay men. Back in college I worked with a couple of gay men, Terry who was rather was flamboyant and fit the stereotype, whereas Joel acted "normal". Terry is not the one who bothered me since the way he came across was that that was his natural personality. Guy was a lot of fun when we worked on the same shift since he was just being himself. As for it coming across in nuance in natural speech patterns, I never thought of it that way but I can see where that comes from. Saying "That guy is cute" doesn't bother me at all, its just 2 guys shooting the shit. Saying "I'm gay and that guy is cute" gets old real fast. It doesn't need to prefaced at all.

Tell me once, fine, I'm slow on the uptake noticing it most of the time. This is different from Harajuku's case. He doesn't believe that gays should act flamboyantly, and betrayed his inherent bigotry by off-handedly calling one a "weirdo," which I thought was adorable. You, meanwhile, thought someone that was annoying as fuck was, well, annoying. I can understand that. It has nothing to do with sexual orientation—they were just irritating. They could have been a vegan constantly talking about veganism and how you're a monster for eating meat, and it would be the same thing.
