    Tablet Debate

Thinking of getting a new Tablet. I have about $400 to spend. I'll use it -mostly- for e-books, movies, streaming movies, few games, lots of pictures, and a tiny amount of music. I don't want 4G/3G capabilities. I would like a Tablet above 7 inches, but it's not going to be a deal breaker. I would like an Android OS, as I don't trust Windows 8 just yet; although that doesn't leave out the kindles. I find IPads a little too much money for what I'm looking for.

So I narrowed it down to Kindle Fire 8.9 HD 32GB, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 32GB, and the Google Nexus 7 32GB. Any other suggestions, and why? Out of the three, which seems like the best bang for my buck?

    Kindle Fire

    Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

    Nexus 7

Supposedly Google will have their 2nd gen nexus 7 out in July, that would probably be the best android tablet you could buy.

Like jmc says, apparently 2nd gen nexus 7 with 1080p and $150 price tag is coming out in July. I'm in the same situaiton, as I want a bigger screen than my phone to use for all my cooking. Not willing to spend more than $250 just for that purpose.

The Samsung hasn't been revised to keep pace with the others so the hardware's older. Right now you're getting the most tablet in the 8.9" Kindle, but the new Nexus might change that depending on what the reality of that is.

do the kindles even run android? thought it was some proprietary shit os without even access to the app store, though that might have changed with newer ones.

You can download apps that can download from the Android AppStore. How are the Nexus 7s? Would this new Generation Nexus 7 be better then the current Nexus 10?

nexus 7 is great, very quick and responsive, my buddy has one, running cyanogen mod on it so that might have something to do with how responsive it is.

not sure about nexus 7 vs 10 though

Hope the second-gen model isn't by Asus as I'll want one. I gave up trying to get a working first-gen in Canada after three returns having the touch-screen issue. The price-for-performance for the Nexus 7 can't really be beat for what they offer.
