    Nvidia Driver Issue

Tried to replace my 9800 GT with a gtx 260, PSU couldnt handle the 260 so I put the 9800 GT back in. Reset CMOS, booted computer, while on the desktop, Windows 7 auto-detected the 9800 GT and installed drivers.

Problem is, once this happens, my sound cuts out entirely.

Currently I'm connected via DVI > HDMI to a Samsung TV, and the sound is going through the headphone (green) port on the back of my computer, and into the DVI audio jacks on the back of my TV.

Prior to removing and replacing the video card I had zero issues with sound, but I'm assuming that the TV is trying to get sound via the HDMI cable instead of the headphone jack. All my google skills could manage is a bunch of people saying "Disable the Nvidia HD audio via device manager" but there is no such option, only Realtek (which I've also downloaded/updated to no avail).

When I disable/delete the nvidia drivers, sound works immediately. Any solutions?

Had something similar happen, if you got another port the video card can go into move it.
Or... if you actually have the option, change the audio or video cards IRQ numbers. (I sure as hell couldn't find the option in my bios/windows 7 >.>)

My problem was my video card uses IRQ 16 and my soundblaster zxr also uses IRQ 16, moving the card to another slot changes its IRQ numbers.

I see what you're saying, and thanks for the response. Hopefully I can get it resolved via IRQ adjustments.

Though I should clarify that I'm plugged into the motherboard's onboard audio jacks, and not to a separate card.

you should be able to set your sound output as through your speakers and not through the HDMI as well

yeah but if your onboard audio is using IRQ 16, and the video card is set to 16 also, it will cause a problem (even though the system won't say there is a problem), like in my case my system said everything was working just fine, took awhile to figure wtf was goin on ;/

Its quite odd, because when I check the mixer from the taskbar I can clearly see an audio signal being sent through the "speakers", and when I click on properties it specifically shows me my green 3.5mm jack, but there's still nothing coming out of my TV until I delete/disable the nvidia drivers.

Do a custom install of the driver and deselect the HD AUDIO driver part.
