Mother dies, then homophobes fire her. Swell.

A comment on that article which entertained me:
Adorable. This area is so populated with lesbians that we affectionately call it Clittyville.
I don't believe that this is a discouraging sign in general as much as it is another black mark on the Catholic Church's already abysmal reputation. It's business as usual for them; meanwhile, the rest of the world—including a good many Catholics themselves—laughs.
I can't laugh knowing that they can legally get away with pure discrimination; the only black mark coming from public perception, which, in this case, is meaningless, as these religious "leaders" still profit greatly from the system.
I want a little justice, not the "satisfaction" of knowing that once again, a religious institution looks silly in the public light. That satisfaction does nothing for this woman who busted her ass for 19 years and is now looking for work.
The progressive march of society ensures eventual justice, even if not immediate. She'll pursue her legal options, and if they can win a case in her favor, she'll have whatever comes from that—money, most likely, since it's doubtful she'll work there again. Fortunately, said march of society ensures that it will not be impossible for her to find employment elsewhere, enabling her to prove that she is a worthwhile job candidate, and not someone of a questionable and untrustworthy nature. The majority is in support of her, rather than the minority; she's ensured respect in wider circles, even if not that of the specific Catholic school.
