Iv never seen a woman hit on at my gym.. Some looks but that's about it. Yes I have seen men offer to spot but if the girl says yes it no joke is that simple always just to spot them...how is this not seen as a sexist rule? you are generalizing the hole gender of men being pigs that can not help themselves.

Considering that the author was far too busy throwing in as many buzzwords as they could manage into their rhetoric (rather than actually being informative), I resorted to conducting my own research, and discovered the time slot he's referring to. On Thursdays, the gym holds a "Women Only" session, which is held from 6:00PM until 7:30PM. By saying "442 hours," and therefore associating his complaint with a large number, he's using a tactic that's brilliant when you're counting on everyone to consider you at face value, and not actually dig deeper into the issue. Unfortunately, this is a large number of people on the planet, both male and female—it's why Fox News is so effective, for example. Present yourself with confidence, and even if you're spewing total garbage, you'll be believed by the majority of people to whom you speak.

That deliberately eye-catching presentation, coupled with his intentionally controversial terminology, is what makes this a dishonest piece. By wrapping it in a well-written bow, he escapes the scrutiny of the average person, and can make an above-average dissenter look less intelligent by comparison, even if they use unclouded information with which to support their argument.

What's most unfortunate about his delivery is how entirely unnecessary it is. Someone concerned with actual equality would only be offended by his biased stance, even though they may agree with the core of the argument. For example, I do not believe that someone should pay for time they cannot use. This does not mean that I consider feminism to be a bad thing, nor do I consider misandry to run rampant. That this author does, and has no shame in displaying that, undermines his argument in the eyes of anyone who is not an easily led-along idiot.

In short: this type of article is a powerful magnet for lazy idiots who don't bother to ask questions (i.e., tabloid journalism), regardless as to their gender. Anyone who's smarter than that will look elsewhere for more informative commentary on the issue.

No, and none of the links nor videos you've provided are of intellectual value. For example, the first link—a page containing statistics without context—is useless. If anything, it's harmful to what you're trying to present. Proving such statistics does nothing to paint misandry as the most terrible issue; instead, it verifies awareness, the obvious opposite of ignorance, and if misandry were responsible for having such things go unnoticed, the large statistic would not be present.

The other videos are anecdotes. Were I as interested in desperately attempting to prove a point, I could provide links to images of men mistreating women, or whatever else would be of a similar flavor, yet with the genders reversed. I would not do such a thing, as I am not desperate.

A man mistreating a woman is not mysogny unless the reason she was mistreated was solely because she was a woman. Kohan, you are not retarded please stop.
These videos CLEARLY point out that the reason the men are not helped is because they are men and you can pretend these attitudes are not pervasive through Western society at large but we both know you're full of shit and just trying to deflect.

I looked into this issue as well and the issue is actually what you're counting as "Women only" periods. He states that the gym denies men access for 442h annually. He is ambiguous about where they are banned, the duration, and the frequency (The former will become prominent soon). You state his figure is grossly exaggerated since the sessions occur for 90min, roughly, and at a weekly frequency.

Before we continue, note that the gym has a few facilities, but these are the relevant ones:
    - Grafton Pool
    - Fitness Center
    - Group exercise studio

    http://www.better.org.uk/leisure/ken...sports-centre/
    Women Only sessions available

Kentish Town Sports Centre is proud to introduce Women only sessions in both the Grafton pool and the Fitness Centre on the days and times detailed below.

    31/01/13

Women Only Swimming Sessions are currently held in the Grafton Pool on:

    - Wednesdays: From: 12:30 pm To 01:30 pm
From: 04:00 pm To 05:00 pm

    - Thursdays: From: 07:00 pm To 10:00 pm

    - Sundays: From: 04:00 pm To 05:00 pm

We also run Women Only session in the Fitness Centre on Thursdays from 06:00pm to 07:30 pm.
6:30pm - 7:45pm Hatha Yoga W All Anna WO Gym
When you check "Latest News" with the first link, you see the quote that follows. The link there redirects you to the second link I've posted. According to this chart, what the gym considers "Women only" sessions is grossly more pronounced than what you suggest. First, you'll notice that I've added a schedule after the Fitness Center note. This is because that schedule slightly extends the note's suggested duration (I can understand why you and TheHuffingtonPost missed this since this is displayed by the first link's listed schedules). Second, we see that the gym considers "Women only sessions" a much more pronounced session than what you have described. Your figure would estimate roughly 78h ish of women-only sessions annually. However, the schedule advertised by the gym as their women-only session totals roughly 403h ish annually. This figure is roughly 90% of the mentioned figure, so the remaining 10% is unaccounted nevertheless.

That said, how you interpret closed access can skew either of these figures. I'm familiar with women-only pools as common practice, so if I don't consider that privileged, I would be inclined to use your figure. However, that would invoke a pointless semantics feud in this situation. Rather than do that, I checked to see whether he explicitly stated "banned from fitness center" and didn't see any results across the initial article, MSN news, or TheHuffingtonPost, so I cannot say he was intentionally deceitful by regarding Grafton access as restricted access. Even more problematic, the gym advertises Grafton sessions as "women only sessions", so the semantics heavily favor his case. Nevertheless, as I've stated, I think Grafton prohibition is much less significant (Since they have alternative access) than Fitness Center prohibition (No real alternative according to their site).

Also lets note the fact that the time slots seem to be right after work hours... I work out most of the time right after work(happens to be at 4:30 release time on Thrusdays) so closing the damn gym down on Thursdays from 7-10pm blows. I would be pissed off and could not use that gym as its 1 of my 3 days. T, TH, S. The rest of the week I am out at god damn 9:30PM

Just remember that this is a section of the gym. Specifically, Grafton. If you intended to use the pool after work, then that would definitely undermine your fun. However, the fitness center would be available after the Yoga session according to their schedule.

So why do women need to workout with only other women besides religious reasons?

Whilst I don't agree with the discrimination based on gender, does the area where the gym is happen to be predominantly/largely muslim? I live in the UK too but in Birmingham which has more muslims (as a %) than London and there are several gyms in my area that are either exclusively for women or have selected areas/hours/classes for women and they put it down to catering to all religions. Even though it at the same time becomes gender discriminative... catch 22.

I pay an extra $5(15 totla) a month for my gym because its considered a "sports gym" to the cooperation, one of the perks is the big ass pool lol.

Agree with this guy 100%, and kudos to him for presenting the argument in such a logical and rational way. I'd be pissed if I was paying for hours of the gym I was legally not allowed to attend for. Equality means equality, and "take your dollars elsewhere" is not an acceptable solution. I suppose Rosa Parks should have just "took her dollars" to another bus instead of expecting to be able to sit where she wanted.

Ignore the problem and the problem persists; it doesn't go away just because you "man up" and take it.
