    FFXI PC Build help

Knowing that this is an decade old game, I wanted to build a gaming PC for FFXI. I use to play this on PS2, and later the 80GB PS3 before my system died. My old friends wanted me to crossover to PC, but I've been so out of touch with what equipment do, and do not work well playing FFXI. I'm setting up this build around surround sound system with a 3D TV through HDMI. So, I mainly need just a CPU. I have a wireless keyboard, and mouse, but I may tinker with a controller. I'm guessing I'm looking @ a $500 build, but depending on people's suggestion, I'll upgrade (I am a graphics/sound whore). Thank you for any suport!

Read the notes, follow the links, read reviews, choose what you want, compare part prices if you're looking at a pre-built or outlet site. Anything modern will play it. Almost anything in the last 7 years will play it (not well but play it yes), but I doubt you will only use your pc for ffxi. You shouldn't anyway heh.

    Have fun.

Make sure you get an SSD. You can have a 10 year old PC with an SSD and it'll run better than a modern PC with a mechanical drive.

Thanks orinthia! This site is hot! I'm thinking of building it myself, which I forgot to mention. Based on the setups I'm seeing on this site, are these pre-builds (left to right), or recommendations on compatible part builds. I think I know the answer, but I have to ask.

Yea, I read up on that. The last comp. I built pre-dated SSD's. I'm hoping to learn alot from doing this all over again!

They're suggestions on how to choose based on budget, and what you could incrementally increase if you have more budget. Each part listed is also a link to the part at a retailer, like amazon or newegg (they also have a country selector so you get localized listings, but be sure to check things as it may not be as up to date). Obviously the final choice is up to you, such as pushing more budget into the vid card than the case, cpu, ram, etc, though do take into account the cost of windows if you don't already own a copy, as well as the power supply necessary for the parts and reviews for things.

Do not rush this, as you'll likely be using the pc you build for a good while, so take a little care with it.
