that could actually be cool... but im not really into that kind of game. pass.
that could actually be cool... but im not really into that kind of game. pass.
The hell are you talking about? Re read that and then think about it for a sec.
this part?
this is bullshit for "we're gonna make a video game with a story" which when combined with the reference to gotham specifically as their inspiration translates to "we're gonna make a video game with a story like gotham" which REALLY means they're going to make a game like gotham."What Warner Bros. did with Batman was take the core roots of that IP and manifest that inside the walls of Gotham City and delivered an interactive experience that had real ties to what you would see in the films and what you had read in the comics, while having its own life because it could provide such deep and more immersive storylines," Wilson told Fortune. "When we look at the Star Wars properties that's how we're looking at it."
A) You're an idiot.
2) No. They are saying they are going to make games separate from the movie universes, like Batman did. They are also saying they want a "immersive storytelling"...so what? That is just market BS for a good game these days.
If you are saying that a game with a deep story is a bad thing set in this universe...I don't know what else to do except point you to the Angry Birds Star Wars games and pat you on the head.
A Star Wars game made like the Arkham series would actually be pretty dope. I would be totally down for buying it. But then, this is EA we are talking about... My faith is set to less than minimal right now with them :-/
I am concerned the shit has backed up into your brain.
i am concerned that an elephant raped you in the ear and replaced your brain with elephant jizz. or something. shut up.
I don't know why, but I am entertained. That being said, play nice. Idiots lol.
Amy Hennig joins Visceral Games as Creative Director on Star Wars projecthttp://www.ea.com/news/amy-hennig-joins-visceral-gamesI couldn’t be more excited to welcome Amy Hennig to our team at Visceral Games and EA as Creative Director on our Star Wars project.
Amy has long been recognized as one of our industry’s top visionaries, and is coming off an amazing run as the Writer and Creative Director of the Uncharted franchise. But her contributions go beyond the games she helped create at Naughty Dog and at Crystal Dynamics, where we worked together many years ago. As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired her approach to creative development – focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player. This fits in perfectly with what we’re trying to do here at Visceral and Amy’s going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world.
Over the last few weeks, Amy and I have spent a lot of time talking about what her first project would be. There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity (because let’s face it, we weren’t the only ones knocking at her door) was Star Wars. Amy’s a huge fan. We happen to be making a Star Wars game. Just thinking about the possibilities made both of us even more excited about having her join the team.
So welcome, Amy! This is a great day for our team at Visceral Games and EA. If you’re interested in joining Amy and our team, please visit careers.ea.com.

Visceral will be co-wrote by Todd Stashwick (Uncharted)http://www.vg247.com/2014/04/12/star...odd-stashwick/The Star Wars title from Visceral Games will be co-wrote by Todd Stashwick, according to a Tweet from Amy Hennig.
Stashwick, who is featured in the next Uncharted game from Naughty Dog, is also an actor outside of video games and stated on Twitter that as “devout gaming and Star Wars geeks,” he and Hennig plan to write “a game we want to play… we will be our harshest critics.”

will be co-wrote >________>
co-wrote is basically code for we have a script that we started making a game on, but its kinda shit so were bringing in someone to fix a little bit of it
i was looking askance as the phrasing. that seems like the wrong tense in that context. shouldn't it be "co-written?"
but yeah that too

Star Wars: Battlefront fans who are sticklers when it comes to official lore can breathe a sigh of relief this morning. The upcoming story for EA's planned Star Wars: Battlefront reboot will be part of the official Star Wars canon, says Lucasfilm, but all prior games are no longer considered part of the Star Wars universe.
In a recent blog post, Lucasfilm explained that the ever-popular Expanded Universe for Star Wars, which provided the setting and characters for countless novels, comics and games, are no longer considered part of the canon. According to Lucasfilm the official canon now only consists of the six Star Wars films as well as the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. The Star Wars: Battlefront 3 release, rumored for 2015, will be tied in to J.J. Abrams' new Star Wars film and be the first game to include characters and plotlines that can be considered part of the canon.
"While Lucasfilm always strived to keep the stories created for the expanded universe consistent with our film and television content as well as internally consistent, Lucas always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU. He set the films he created as the canon," Lucasfilm said in the blog post. "Now, with an exciting future filled with new cinematic installments of Star Wars, all aspects of Star Wars storytelling moving forward will be connected."
This is great news. By including Star Wars: Battlefront 3 as part of the official canon Lucasfilm is essentially giving it a seal of approval. The Star Wars canon is something the company takes very seriously, so this renewed effort to keep everything connected and consistent means that the Star Wars: Battlefront reboot will include a story that needs to meet the standards set forth by Lucasfilm. Whether or not Lucasfilm will have their own staff working on the game wasn't made clear in the blog post, but at the very least we now know that the story needs to be consistent with what happens in the films. And, according to EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen, the Star Wars: Battlefront release is being scheduled around the new film's release.
"Star Wars: Battlefront will most likely come out around the same time the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of '15," Jorgensen told investors last year. Since then, J.J. Abrams' new Star Wars film has been pushed to December 18, 2015, so fans should be anticipating a late November/early December release date for Star Wars: Battlefront.
Beyond the anticipated release date and the news it will now be part of the official canon, not much else is known about Star Wars: Battlefront 3. EA's games label exec Patrick Soderlund talked to Polygon about the progress of the game last summer after the E3 reveal. There was little in the way of details, but Soderlund emphasized DICE's commitment to doing right by fans.
"The most important thing for me is that we take the Star Wars license and come up with games where peoples' jaws drop," he said. "We need to do with this what [Batman: Arkham Asylum] did for the Batman license. It's going to take awhile. We just announced the license and showed a sneak peek of Hoth. The speeder and the AT-AT will be in [the game] for sure. We didn't toss anything out."
It's understandable, though, that fans might be worried that Star Wars: Battlefront 3 won't live up to the hype or, even worse, be plagued with the same launch issues we saw with Battlefield 4. However, DICE reps have been vocal about the fact that Star Wars: Battlefront 3 will be more than just sci-fi skin slapped on a modern military shooter.
"People don't want another Battlefield with Star Wars graphics; they want a Star Wars game that is proper," Battlefield 4's executive producer Patrick Bach told Videogamer.
For example, EA has confirmed that a third-person mode will be part of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 in order to make it more consistent with the other titles in the series. And the reboot won't receive the annualized treatment that many feel have stifled the FPS genre. In fact, EA's Frank Gibeau told CVG that the new plan for EA is to rotate between Titanfall, Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield games every year.
Lucas archives being studied for inspiration on unannounced game, Ben Wanat (Dead Space series) joins the teamhttp://www.dualshockers.com/2014/06/...ctor-involved/After leaving Naughty Dog, former Uncharted Creative Director Amy Hennig joined Visceral Games to work in the same role on a new Star Wars game, which from what we gathered from career opportunity ads should be another third-person action/adventure. Shortly after, Todd Stashwick, that many know as the narrator of the PS4 Uncharted teaser shown last year, joined her as co-writer.
Looks like at the moment they’re doing research for the game right at the source, in the archives of Gorge Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch, as tweeted by Stashwick.
Henning Herself tweeted about it, also dropping an interesting piece of information:At Skywalker Ranch with @amy_hennig. Digging into the research library. Tomorrow we hit the archives. #hereswherethefunbegins
At the Lucasfilm archives saw the original Ralph Mcquarrie concept art. Breathtaking. I only wept twice. Ask @amy_hennig. Ok…maybe thrice
If you’re wondering who Ben Wanat is, he covered the role of Creative Director of Dead Space 3, and Production Designer of Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Evidently Wanat is involved in the project as well. We don’t have precise information on his new role, but he might possibly take up the Producer seat again, or co-direct the game with Hennig.Overwhelmingly inspiring day in the Lucasfilm archives at Skywalker Ranch with @ToddStashwick and Ben Wanat. I might’ve teared up a little.
It’s currently unknown if the game will have any presence at E3, even if it seems to be in the preliminary production phase, so it might be too early for a showing.
