That chart is exactly why I can kind of understand the underwhelmed POV.

If you are comparing episode 1 of this series to episode 26 or 27 of TTGL then I can understand there being a little of a downswing, but if you compare episode 1 of KLK with episode 1 of TTGL (hint: you should) then unquestionably, KLK is better.

There's so much ridiculousness to this show that I can't even. The fanservice is done in such a specific particular way that it's incredibly ecchi without feeling cheap.

I can't call it gurren lagann amazing good anymore though. Gurren Lagann had a solid plot and slowly exposed you to bursts of ridiculousness, going exponential towards the end. This just starts off balls to the walls and didn't give you time to truly appreciate the setting and characters. While it's no gurren lagann, I still love it.

I feel like the animation is what's bothering me. It has too much of a Panty and Stocking / Inferno Cop feel to it. It feels cheap. I know it's the style but... after seeing what they could do with Little Witch Academia, this feels cheap.

I don't think its bad at all, a bit fast paced but overall crazy and at times very random.

(also gotta love some the ecchi/hentai pics of the tennis girl already)
