Capitalist with no concept of how the labor market works, imagine that.
Hint: Companies do not hire people when/because they can 'afford to'.
I'm generally amazed test hasn't gotten bitched with a ban-stick yet. ` - . )
Yeah totally, lets remove the requirement that employers pay employees a certain amount of money per hour. Surely this will be good for workers when employers can hire 8 workers for what they used to pay one. It will certainly create jobs, thats for god damned sure.Price fixing, as fixing the price of labor(minimum wage) has disastrous consequences. Only the free market can save this situation. Let the free market create more jobs, which will stimulate better working conditions for the worker. Only free markets and competition can flurish the economy.
FREE DEM MARKETZ.
Duh, not having a job is a totally legitimate option for anyone to choose, all they have to do is remind them that labor is in demand!
Minimum wage helps a small number of people, but hurt a huge amount of other people. All of the unemployed could be participating in growing the economy, but instead they are a drain on everyone else. Think of it this way, how long do you have to work to save up 100k$. Take your income, subtract taxes, rent and other expenditures. The money left is your savings. It would take years to save up 100k$. Lets assume it takes 10 years to save 100k$, should you go unemployed it can take 2-3 years for that 100k$ buffer to be used up.
So you spend 10 years of your life savings to pay for 2-3 years of unemployment. Lets transfer this principle to the economy. There are 11.7 million registered unemplyed people in the US. You need 40-50 million people working just to cover the expenses of the unemployed. The remaining workforce is left to grow the economy on their own.
Everyone must contribute, even if it is just 5$/hr... It's better for the economy then sitting on the sofa.
Oh, you.
12/10, A++++++
LOL@Test if he thinks people will even make $5.00 an hour if minimum wage was abolished at a good chunk of jobs.
Actually, test should go read the grapes of wrath to get an idea of what no minimum wage during a massive downturn of the economy will do.
I think reading something other than Ayn Rand would be an improvement for the dude.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
Probably people making $2/hr less than they were
I will. 1 million part-time, below $8/hour jobs is meaningless for our economy. That does not get anyone out of poverty, and barely decreases the burden on social services.
Living in a box eating ramen noodles on $5/hr with your 4 kids is so awesome but at least you're growing the economy for all the people richer than you!
I guess they'd better just die and decrease the surplus population working their asses off to pay for their disgusting need to have a LIVABLE wage.
I for one am intrigued about this new grand solution.
Well this month I made 37k in USD, but this month was unusual. Last year I made 110k. I'm 27yo and live in Europe. I pay for all my expenses.
I have met many people with no higher education that make 300k/year. Simply because there is a high demand for labor where I live.
Clearly you would have a solid handle on the ability of someone making $8.5k/year(what $5/hour nets out to post-tax) to meet the basic costs of living in the US, then.
