Hey audio dudes, suggest some cans

Noise Canceling (NOT isolating), under $300, stylish, strictly over the ear, headphones. Any suggestions?

I like the Beats Executives. They are super confy and do the job. But I find it hard to pay $300 for them...

My 2nd favorite are Sony's but can't seem to find them for under $300 at all.

No noise cancelling headset is going to have high quality audio compared to what "conventional" headphones have.

That said, in all honesty the best bet is Bose (msrp on their noise cancelling phones are between 300-350). Most of their shit is overpriced and sounds like dogshit, but the notice cancelling headphones they sell have always been pretty solid. Accurate audio reproduction, hell no. But you said you like Beats so you're not looking for that anyways.

Krandor may have been brusque, but he's not wrong.

To be a bit more constructive, I strongly suggest surfing around the following site, as it's the best and most thorough resource in relation to headphones that you'll find online: http://www.head-fi.org/

Hmm I've been rethinking the beats. As badass as they look, the quality seems to be shit. A lot of reviewers talk about a "hiss" with active noise canceling on, and its true... I can hear it in the demos at the stores.

I'm looking for noise canceling primarily for that, canceling noise. I have a handful of trips planned, and hate ambient jet engine noise.

The Bose, although regarded as the best, always feel small, cheap and just overall overrated to me.

The Beats Executives are UBER comfy, and look aweseome, but are super expensive and have a very noticeable hiss.

I'm looking to spend about $200
Want noise canceling without the hiss
Over the ear, and no pleather.
    Super comfy.

I'm a fan of V-moda. Their oldest model is around $100 and the newest is around $300. Newest are the M-100 followed by the M-80s which Amazon currently has for $150.

The look is awesome, I've had a number of people complement me on how cool they look.

So I've spent a better part of all day looking into headphones and found some trends,

Looks likes hard to avoid hissing with noise canceling and most audiophiles say to avoid them all together. They said if you want noise canceling, IEM are the way to go.... which I hate. Derp

If you want stylish ones, then prepare to get squat for quality.

So I decided to just look at cans in general, what are the best for the price. Throwing away looks and noise canceling

    Holy shit audio technica m50s....

Across all boards, reddit, retail reviews, people go nuts over these. In fact head-fi has these rating over pretty much any other headset, even $1000 headphones. Best part? They are just over $100 bucks.

I ended up nabbing 2 for $106 a pop on amazon with free 2day shipping.

You chose wisely and I'm sure I don't have to tell you they're super flat on an EQ and you can pump treble and base solidly on them and they'll respond quite nicely.

    Look pretty cool as well.

M50 is a solid buy, even after all these years still probably the best option in the price range, especially since the cost just keeps going down.

I think I would have thrown up if you bought either Beats or Bose.

I'm going to be honest, I never knew how bad they were.

I figured they were over priced for sure, but DAMN they get crap for reviews. Even when an audiophile spends 100+hrs trying to do serious burn in work they still can't justify spending half the price on beats. I've only ever liked the looks of one of them, and thats the executive.

Oh, also found during all my research:
    http://cdn.head-fi.org/2/27/350x263p...ewithM50s.jpeg

As for Bose, I've always thought they were overrated. Ever time I pick up a pair my first reaction is "these can't be $350" They feel so cheap just in my hands. The noise canceling is pretty solid but the sound just seems like they come from a regular $20 set of sonys.

I get these M50s on Tuesday and looking forward to trying them. Even my only potential complaint, pleather ear cups, can be replaced with a $20 set of ear cups of a different material.

lolbeats. Seriously. That's like buying monster cable.

I roll Audio Technica. I didn't need noise cancelling or any fancy shit so I got the ATH-M35s for like $30 on Amazon and they are glorious.

No experience with them. Decent amazon reviews but the glow seems a bit gimmicky.

I wonder if you knew how closely associated the two were when you made this comment. Was it intentional?

If you can live with isolation instead of cancelling, then Sennheiser hd 25-1 II all the way. I've been using them for the past 5-6 years in evey club I played (~250gigs) and they still work flawless. They're somewhat considered classics in the DJ headphones department and are often used by sports presenters at live events. Obviously the noise isolation is excellent but I mostly love how lightweight they are and I can't imagine playing with any of the monsters (like the reloop rhp-10) anymore. Pretty much every part is replacable too, if you manage to break them.

They might be a bit hard to find them for a test, as Sennheiser is a german manufacturer.

Errrmmmgeeed. Has dre used these fucking headphones?! THIS IS WHAT YOUR MISSING. Derp ya he does use these!

Just got these in, and I'll be honest, I didn't know what "fucking awesome" could sound like. I've always had cheap speakers, cheap headphones, etc. My ears are blown away at the sexiness coming out of these cans.
