No Arcade Mode at Launch (have to wait until 8 characters are available)http://www.vg247.com/2013/11/09/kill...e-on-xbox-one/Killer Instinct’s single-player Arcade Mode will not be released until all of Season One lands on Xbox One, Microsoft Studios game designer Daniel Fornace has told OXM.
Fornace said at launch, six characters will be available for the game, and once the other two characters are released – bringing the total to eight – Arcade Mode will be released.
“Our Arcade mode is going to come out when we’ve done the eight characters,” he said. “So once the last character comes out then we’ll have Arcade.”
It will still include offline play in the form of Survival and Dojo Modes.
“Survival is like our endless mode,” Fornace said. “The way it works is you pick a difficulty and you go in, and you’re basically playing a long chain, and after each match you regenerate health, but as you go on you generate less and less, and even if you do beginner difficulty, as you get to the higher numbers the CPU does start getting tougher, so you’ll still hit a limit.
“You set your difficulty to where you’re at – so if you set it to Champion it’ll start hard and get even worse.
“The Dojo is our big tutorial mode. We’re teaching you about Killer Instinct, but we’re also trying to teach you about fighting games in general, and their terminology, because often you’ll hear people talk about fighting games, and you know they just don’t know what they’re talking about.”
Killer Instinct will launch with free-to-play character Jago with other characters running you £3.99/€4.99/$4.99 each. The Season Pass will run you £16.99/€19.99/$19.99 and comes will all eight characters.

So we're really, wholly, completely in an era where we release unfinished shit in order to get money now, then monetize the finished content later.
I mean, yeah yeah expansion packs in the 90's, but shit, fighting games had arcade modes at launch.
This is where we're at nowadays.
Yup, enjoy a fighting game with 6 characters and no arcade mode. Granted arcade mode isn't really useful to any serious player who Microsoft is pretending to gear this for, but it's a pretty glaring absence.
so i haven't paid attention to neo-KI since the evo demo
does it still look like a terrible game with the aesthetic sensibilities of nintendo power ca. 1995 or what
The graphics are decent enough, if way too heavy on particle effects if solely to show "HAY LOOK GUYS NEXT GEN"
Ultra Edition to include two versions of the classic, original glitched & original fixedhttp://www.vg247.com/2013/11/16/kill...tinct-classic/Killer Instinct Ultra Edition will contain two versions of Rare’s Killer Instinct Classic, according to producer Torin Retting. It is a complete port of two versions of the Killer Instinct arcade game: the original arcade ROM v1.4 containing all the “fan-favorite glitches,” and the revised version v1.5D which fixed things such as Cinder’s infinite combo. It also comes with extras like training mode, frame effects and more. Killer Instinct Classic won’t have online multiplayer, but Retting said the team has been “talking about it a lot.” Retting also said there’s “no news for Killer Instinct 2 for Xbox One… yet.”
