This is the best guide out there for fishing.

The new patch has added Big Fishing!

There are 30+ new fish to catch and they are very very sneaky and hard to find. You will likely need Full HQ and good gathering melds to even get near them.

Sweet. How do you get the different baits? I'm on the level 5 quest, they want me to catch something with Pill bugs but I can't find them anywhere.

In Lower Limsa there is a Fieldcraft Vender who sells the low level baits.

Fingershrimp can be caught with lugworm
Gudgeon can be caught in N.Grid(Jadeite flood) and Lower Black tea Brook with crayfish balls
Pipira Lv.7 Freshwater/Crayfish balls in Jadeite flood
Bone Crayfish - Nophica's wells

Kay, Any update on where to get the other baits, like rat tails? I killed like 40 wharf rats and got only animal skin D: Need them to get pebble crabs for a leve

Rat Tail and Midge Baskets can be bought in Swiftperch from the Merchant.

Can catch Tiger Cod and Pebble Crabs with Goby Balls.

Useful because there are leves for these at 10, and Rat Tails require lvl 15.

It's kind of hard to see when you have a catch when you're ccean fishing under stealth. I did the Sahagin stronghold for kicks along with the normal FSH quests.

Having a lot of trouble catching sea cucumber for the first leves in limsa...been trying moraby for a while with pill bug bait.
