Is it really that hard to turn off the always online?

You have to remember the type of things EA says, whether true or not. When people pleaded with EA to turn off Sim City's online-only requirements, EA swore up and down that it couldn't be done. They said that the calculations for sim agents are hardcoded into the cloud and the entire game would fail to run without access to EA's servers, which, of course, was a load of shit. Within a month and a half, gamers had successfully taken the game offline while preserving its functionality. EA held fast for a few months, then finally admitted that "after numerous struggles", the game could finally be played offline.

They took so much flak for the entire fiasco that they not only gave away free titles but made it a "selling point" to announce that The Sims 4 would be playable offline. This was back in the spring of '14, so it makes a lot of sense.

Another company having this written about them and I'd write it off as bullshit, but not with EA. They've proven in the past that they can and will do this and whatever else to push whatever policies they're trying to profit off of. They wanted both games online only to cut down on pirating, especially as The Sims is a heavily pirated franchise (go figure with a billion expansion and stuff packs).

I followed the tutorial very slowly to make sure I absorbed anything new or different (not a lot).

The plus side is it seems to be less resource intensive so it runs way better than Sims 3.

Apparently for every DLC I purchased of Sims 3 it gave me some "stuff" in Sims 4. Don't expect a lot but it's mostly decorations and some (mostly shitty) outfits.

The amount of hairstyles and clothes are the same as the demo in case you're wondering. So. Not a lot there either.

Why did I click this thread? I'm having horrible flash backs from when I worked at EA when the first Sims came out and having to help the Maxis queue with tech support due to the flood of calls that never stopped. I will admit I laughed a little every time we got an exploding disk call. Those were the best.

^ A pretty extensive smattering of dev comments and snippets that basically tell the story of how Maxis essentially had to start over last year once Sim Citygate happened last year. People were pissed, shots were fired, ect. They basically had a year to work on the game, and a lot of that consisted of purging online elements and cleaning up the holes.

Typical EA, although they at least had the "foresight" to put the brakes on running over the corpse again after they plowed right into it the first time last year.

I just can't take the idea of buying a game that has less then its prequel. I liked the first two. But by the third I felt like to play the god damn extra shit you had to spend more money, no screw off give me all the extras for my 60 dollars or get nothing from me.

I really hope this game fails its like the first ever Facebook game. Keep throwing money at it or don't play to its fullest!

There is hope.

Many women on the mommy boards pissed as shit about sims4, and many are refusing to buy.

Considering that women are the major players of the sims4, hopefully this will help get EA's collective heads out of their asses.
