Beta for ps4 version also, wonder if that means it will look and play better on it
Didnt they also say it would utilize DX11?
could we expect same thing for FFX PS3 and vita? who knows but not the thread for that here
They're gonna release some bullshit edition which includes a limited companion or some cool glasses in game item with the PS4 one, thereby tempting owners of the PS3 one to buy it I bet.According to the announcement, PS3 players will be able to upgrade to the PS4 version for free, effectively removing the need to purchase the game for the new platform.
Here's to hoping they up the PC version from "higher then PS3 limited characters/things on screen" to unlimited.
Press release version
PS4 Details via Alkar & GAFSquare Enix today announced that the opening of beta tests on the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn from Saturday the 22nd of February 2014 and a free service that will allow players to switch from playing the game on the PlayStation 3 to the PlayStation 4
Beta testing will commence on the PS4 version of FFXIV: ARR, on Saturday the 22nd of February 2014.
The FFXIV: ARR game service is now live on Windows PC and the PlayStation 3, and a PS4 version is currently in development. Essential work to increase the number of servers and strengthen the service environment, with the aim of alleviating the crowding on existing servers is also in progress.
Furthermore, those who are currently playing the PS3 version of FFXIV: ARR will not have to re-buy the game on PS4 and will be able to transition to playing on PS4 at no additional cost. They will even be able to carry over their character data and continue playing on the new platform.
Further information on the PS4 beta tests and the PS4 version transition service will be released soon and we hope everyone will have a great experience with FFXIV: ARR.
They said that PS3 players would get the upgrade to PS4 for free months ago, think it was in a Live Letter. Did everyone just forget about it and suddenly it's news again?
Huh, I guess that makes sense. It's nice to have confirmation, though, since I purchased a PS3 copy mainly to play on the PS4.
Hopefully this massively boosts animation frame rate for other PC's/Mobs , on ps3 looking at other characters move about town it looks like that old clay stop/go animation, like the monsters in Jason and the Arganoughts
I need to go get the game for PS3 now. I just wonder besides character models and frame rate if it will be truely equal to the PC version in graphics.
The Downsidehttp://www.siliconera.com/2013/09/19...e-ps3-version/Square Enix said players who purchase the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version without any additional costs. Speaking with Famitsu, producer/director Naoki Yoshida elaborated on the transfer, which is actually a transfer of login rights.
Yoshida said to eliminate any upgrade costs, players will lose the rights to play the PlayStation 3 version if they upgrade to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for PlayStation 4. Once you do the transfer to PS4 you will not be able to login to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PS3. Yoshida further clarified that even if your PS4 is in your living room with FFXIV and your PS3 is in your bedroom you won’t be able to play FFXIV on your PS3 because the login rights are bound to the PS4 version. If you want to play on multiple devices with the same account you will need to buy another copy similar to how you need the PC version and console version to play on both platforms.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for PlayStation 4 will be in full HD, 1920 x 1080p resolution. You will be able to play the game with a keyboard and mouse. You can also use the touch panel on the top of the DualShock 4 as a mouse. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will support remote play and Yoshida was candid about the experience on Vita. He said it would be tough to play since the text in the chat windows would be small and the Vita doesn’t have enough buttons. He’s going to see if he can utilize the rear touch panel as a possible solution.
Yoshida also said he thinks he should be able to show the PlayStation 4 version around the end of the year and it should be indistinguishable from the PC version.
