I agree, you basically have to have both Swiftcast and Convert up and available in order to make flare useful, and even then I'd only use it to finish off a pack (but why not just convert and Fire II a few more times?).

I dunno, rotation is interesting for AoE, still getting used to incorporating Flare, but hey if Garuda HM makes use of it, I'll take advantage.

That's my current issue with FS. By the time you wait and see if it procs, you could have cast another Fire. Damage over time wise I think it's better if you wait for the proc, because theoretically you could proc every turn, or at least twice/thrice in a row.

By not waiting youre missing that chance for extra damage, but at the same time, by waiting it makes you feel like you're doing less damage. Though maybe, by squeezing in more Fires, it will make up for the lack of missing extra possible procs?

They should really allow FS to stack, or notify you if it procs much sooner.

It would be an interesting parse to see, if not impossible to actually parse both sides equally.

It's probably on the same level as what tier of thunder to use. It may just not be worth being that much more anal about it.

When FS and Thunder proc at the same time I use Thunder first as it has the potential to proc again by the next FS.

If I read right, that was something I had been doing for a while. Interrupting Fire because Firestarter would proc. But what I noticed is that I would have a lot more MP left over by doing so. The procs were random of course but generally, my Thunder ticks would be over a whiile before I ran out of MP so that I could renew my rotation. It was a sloppy rotation and very tedious, so I stopped doing that.

I can already tell you that your rotation is shit and from how much a friend laughed while reading this topic so is everyone elses.

It sounds like you are not frontloading FireIII to gain AS3 immediately, start doing this. Use Flare when Swiftcast is up. Use BlizzardIII to gain all MP back in one shot.

Most AoE packs BLM's are afraid to stand close, you lose a lot of DPS in AI phase because you only have single target.

There's not really a point to being in Astral Fire 1 or 2.

I dont think theres a need to use macros for BLM.

Not much of one, no. I have my bottom bar toggle between Fire/Ice lines if I cast the specified T3 button. That's about it, though. If SE ever adds some kind of conditional macro option, I'd do things to wiggle thunderstorm or firestarter procs in, but that's about all you really can do.

I cast bliz3, then thunder3, then fire3, then firefirefirefirefire, then SC flare, rinse repeat. Seems to do pretty damn good damage. You can actually make a tank work (a little) if you get luck with some procs and use raging strikes at appropriate times.

I still cringe at flare. Why wouldn't you keep enough mp to bliz 3 (at astral 3), then cast fire 3 (at umbral 3] almost immediately after. If you learn your timings you'll be miscast on fire 3 when you refresh your mp to full. Restart the fire chain faster and still have practically no down time unlike having to transpose then cast a blizzard.

Swiftcast -> flare -> convert -> fire 1 -> blizzard 3 -> thunder 3 -> etc

Should never have to stop casting or wait for a tic. Unless your gear sucks in which case not my problem.
