Considering that the announcement trailer was a whole lot of nothing, I comparatively can't even get a reading. No shits given for the time being.

This week’s issue of Famitsu is out and with it are more details on Disgaea 5, which was just announced earlier this week at the pre-TGS Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia conference. We’ve got our own scans of the story, as well as synopsis of the major details covered in it, which you can find below.
The initial premise of Disgaea 5 revolves around an entity known in the game as Void Dark, who’s dubbed in the magazine as “the strongest, most evil demon emperor.” Upon coming into power, Void Dark devastates numerous Netherworlds in his wake with the help of an army known as “The Lost,” a group filled to the brim with only the most treacherous soldiers, rumored to number over one million. Although things start to look so bad that nobody can fight back and turn the tide, the Overlords of the affected Netherworlds, resentful of Void Dark’s rule, slowly begin to rise up and take on The Lost, intent on getting their revenge. Indeed, unlike in previous games, Disgaea 5 takes place across multiple Netherworld and has players getting the Overlords and heirs from the various Netherworlds to bang together to face down their mutual threat.
More detailed character profiles have also been released for the initial trio that we showed off yesterday. First up is Kiria profile (voiced by Mamoru Miyano). A demon sporting sharp eyes and a long scarf, he harbors power that rivals that of a proper Overlord in his body, but is nonetheless an aloof warrior. Due to events in his past, he has a personal grudge against Void Dark and sets out traveling around the Netherworlds to get his revenge.
Seraphine (voiced by Sarah Emi Bridcutt), meanwhile, is a super wealthy Overlord from the Gorgeous Netherworld. Blessed with beauty and good proportions that convey her quality upbringing, she has no fear of The Lost and is all too happy to take them on, but is rebelling her parents’ wishes to get into a political marriage, making her a runaway of sorts despite her title.
Finally, Usaria (voiced by Satomi Akesaka) is a girl cursed with going beserk if she doesn’t eat curry. She’s the heiress apparent in the Rabbit Underworld, where demons that don’t like fighting gather, but is nonetheless being ravaged by Void Dark. She has a giant yellow Prinny that tags along with her, which she rides on and fights with during combat.
A handful of new gameplay tidbits were also discussed in minor detail. Most discussed is how when highlighting characters on battlefield, information displayed now includes stats on damage resistances, as well as who they’re affiliated with, among other new variables. A “Revenge System,” is also mentioned to be present in the game; details are scarce, save for the fact that it’s seemingly triggered during times such as an when a party member falls, resulting in the surviving characters turning angry and “REVENGE!!” text popping up, as well as potentially bestowing them with stat boosts. A new type of special attack called “Maougis” are also said to be in the game, although Famitsu deigned to explain how they’re different from standard special attacks.
Although likely apparent just from looking at the game, NIS President Sohei Niikawa is acting as Disgaea 5′s producer, while Takehito Harada handles the character designs once again and Tenpei Sato is the game’s composer.
Disgaea 5 is said to be 60 percent complete and set for release in spring 2015.
Spoiler: show
Looks good. Reminds me of pokemon sometimes how each game comes out with really nice small additions to where you wish they all had it lol.
Ehh not every addition to Disgaea has been great or worth keeping. I certainly didn't really enjoy clubs in D3 or how they evolved to Evil Symbols in D4 because it's extremely fussy. Looks like they're keeping the Symbols in D5 too, and if they haven't streamlined assigning members to each it's going to be just as big a pain in the ass as before.

I thought they said they were working to bring in new blood to the franchise? Why, then, does the game look absolutely identical to every one prior? Even the newly discussed features seem to be things that only long-time fans would appreciate or even understand.
"More story" doesn't necessarily mean "a better story," and if the domestic localization churns out yet another yuk-fest with shit jokes straight out of early '90s anime dubbing, I'm just going to be bored.Disgaea 5 has more story than any other game in the series. Disgaea 5 will have 16 chapters.
I wish I could get excited about this. Really, I do.
I don't know if that's correct or not but its irrelevant to my question. They specifically said before we know a lot of concrete info that they were aiming to bring in new blood. I am assuming the franchise has stagnant-to-consistent sales, and they want to expand those numbers. I'm not sure how going about the formula in the exact same way will accomplish that.
I am a fan. They already have a high probability of attracting me to the game, based simply on the fact that it's a prettier version of what they've already released in the past. How are they going to bring in someone brand new, though, if the past multiple titles didn't do it?
Yeah it looks just like all the others, which I don't mind. I thought they were going to drastically change it too.

Fist user for the main and guns for the girl. That's so.. oh wait.
Fuck it, I'm coming out. This was my favorite Disgaea.
Also the girl's tits are huge and she has pink hair. I am trying to not like this.
Shit she looks like their love child. Next thing you guys are going to tell me is she's the daughter of the Overlord who's been locked up in a castle like a princess.
Edit: Actually she has a crown on her head. I guess she might be royalty.
Edit 2: Actually if I was paying attention to this thread/this game at all, this was already stated.
Seraphine (voiced by Sarah Emi Bridcutt) – The heroine. The sheltered princess and daughter of “Gorgeous Underworld”‘s demon king.
