Greetings, everyone!
Bayohne here, with some news about a special accolade that FFXIV received!
We're pleased to say that FFXIV: A Realm Reborn received the "Special Prize" award at yesterday's PlayStation Awards 2013! This brand-new award was created this year to honor and recognize outstanding titles based on a combination of their buzz-worthiness, influence, performance, and newness.

We were able to achieve this milestone because of the support of our players around the world! We'll continue working hard to deliver a game that you can enjoy for many years to come!
At the ceremony, we also announced that official service for the PlayStation 4 version will begin in April 2014!

I didn't know if it was confirmed before but I'm very happy to see that FFXIV will support Keyboard and Mouse on PS4.

It was stated that it would be supported. Yoshi-P more or less said that it would be exactly like playing on PC a while back.

Glad for that then. I'm holding off on seeing how it handles compared to PC if it can sustain high desktop settings then im going to go ahead and grab a couple PS4's instead of upgrading everyone's PC next year.

PS4 will run ffxiv at like today's midrange PC at like what 720-1080p?
PC's will be getting the DX11 + hopefully texture upgrades, and of course can go above 1080p jsut fine with a decent pc!

Oh i'm good on my rig i'm just trying to save money upgrading 2 kids and my wife next year lol. I remember seeing a long time ago a quote from Yoshi saying it should run around High PC settings @ 1080, if it can and the fps hold it would save me quite a bit of money.

That's really changing the paradigm of how people play consoles. Don't most people use consoles with a TV and a couch and/or chair of some kind? If you're going to be PS4 gaming with a keyboard and mouse you'll have to move your PS4 to your desk. Kind of defeats the purpose of playing on a console and not a PC.

Can't you just use wireless keyboard and mouse? Not sure if the option is there for PS4.

Sure, but you'd still need at least a desk to put your mouse on. Unless you have some sort of strange mouse that you can hold that I'm not aware of.

Any standard USB-based wireless keyboard/mouse worked fine on PS2/PS3 for the most part, so I assume the same for PS4.

Wasn't an issue with XI since the optimal way to play it was just with the keyboard, which most KB models work fine from your lap. XIV on the other hand needing the mouse.......yeah, going to need a more solid surface. Do trackball users still exist?

Well yeah but I just mean you could come up with a small desk/table thing rather than having to move your PS4 to your desk.

Of course, it's damn great once you're used to it for games and general use. Can use trackball anywhere you don't have a stable surface, like in bed, on couch, etc, without having to constantly move your wrist. I use an old wired logitech trackman with my laptop in bed.
