It'll just be TDM (and only 4v4 at that, no 8v8 yet) in 2.1, CTF / Frontlines / whatever will be later.

I had a PvP only linkshell in ff11, 90% of the members had other shells yes but I can think of around 3 or so members that only logged on for balista. Granted the number was super small, but still if FF11 had some people who did it for PvP ff14 will as well.
So depending on how it is implemented we may see a decent chunk of players for PvP only.
edit: do we have any info on line of sight with PvP for casters? I mean as it stands BLM is going to be crap, if a player sees a blm all they need to do is sidestep 3 feet and it stops the casting.
Fun Fact: The Titan Extreme Quest is called "Quake Me Up Before You O'Ghomoro"
Amused that Ifrit is the "hardest" Extreme.
Don't be so sure about that dude. Might have problems against multiple targets but BLM has several ways to slow you down. A good blm isnt gonna just stand still in one spot and cast and a good team isn't gonna allow you to slaughter one of its best DPS/healer. Also going Thaumaturge could possibly be an option depending on how things are balanced. That's all without even knowing what pvp skills are available.
I was one of those people who would only log on for weeks just to Ballista and coming up with pvp strategies was something I enjoyed immensely. Ballista was a pretty deep game when you truly got into it.
Also don't remember if it was in this thread but BLM in FFXI Ballista was deadly when geared properly to the point of almost unfairness if you were on a team that didn't handle it properly. Of course that was mainly uncapped, though.
it's nice since each primal has a spot as being "the big bad"
garuda for normal, titan for hard, ifrit for EXTREME OLLIES
Not that surprising considering he was the first (and only one) with an EX version back in 1.0.
Titan will still probably end up being the biggest pain due to people who can't dodge though. At least with Ifrit you can always raise, whereas with Titan if someone falls off they're out.
They said they're changing raise to make you invulnerable for a few seconds while you are rooted. So you will be able to get up much easier than you can now. Though I'm just assuming that is making it into 2.1, I can't remember if they said it will or not.
But yeah Ratatapa makes a good point. They could change the way the edge works. We'll have to see.
Ifrit: Now with Conflagrations that remove you from battle
If his current one knocked back any further you'd hit the edge from practically anywhere. Even if it was current and the flaming edge killed you, would have to have Ifrit on the edge + everyone directly behind + tank flips him around when knockback comes up. Which runs the risk of killing everyone with cleave/Incinerate.
Pretty sure SE wouldn't do that.
They could just the route of adding a severe DPS check to make it hard. Or alternatively a high HP check that you'll struggle to make whilst weakened.
Ifrit Extreme, return of the stacking.
"Hey, don't fucking run over here, you're trailing your eruptions into my space!"
I keep telling my FC to run Ifrit w/o stuns, but nobody listens.
