The average meal for 3 costs, what, less than 10 bucks to prepare? And less than half an hour to make too. If you're cooking for one (which I've done before) do a soup/stew and freeze the leftovers. In terms of preparation time it's only the chopping and slicing (which can be made easier with appliances) and then you bung it in the oven/slow cooker and you've got 3 meals for the price of one. Make a sandwich or a grilled chicken or something once in a while so you don't get bored of the same stuff. Or eat out on non-soup days.
Like others in the thread I don't see how you can hate eating that much. I mean, food tastes GOOD! Some of it anyway. Yes there is the time spent buying groceries, but you have to get milk and other stuff at the store too, may as well do it all at once. Also, you can buy in bulk and have it delivered, then store the stuff in the freezer/chiller. You get to save money AND keep a close watch on your nutrition as well.
I really don't see how synthetic stuff beats real food, both in terms of price, nutrition and taste factor.
