i love the dialogue in the show between the two main characters. i mean i couldn't give two fucks about who actually did it, because it's not about that. rusty is somehow one of my favorite tv characters of all time.
"you are incapable of admitting doubt."
"i doubt that."
not sure why but I was much more engrossed in this episode than the previous two. Cohle's dialogue is still hit or miss for me; sometimes it's clever and interesting, sometimes it's so pompous and tryhard it makes me roll my eyes - but maybe that's the point. Cohle is still a MUCH more likable character than Hart.
Creeeepyyy last scene!
Agreed, sometimes the dialogue is hard to follow
Just watched the 3rd episode. Shit is awesome. Love the two detectives. Love that the big, wide shots of Louisiana's broken, dirty, weird places act as sort of a 3rd main character.
This quote from the episode was my favorite:
"Do you ever wonder if you're a bad man?" -Hart
"No, I don't wonder, Marty. World needs bad men. We keep the other bad men from the door." -Cohle
Caught up to this, really excellent show. Harrelson and McConaughey are giving excellent performances.
I did notice that, pointed it out to my wife after Marty got busy with DEM TITS holy mother of God those were amazing.
That is the point IMO. Rust and Marty are great foils for each other. In the interviews Marty talks like you would think any solid detective would while Rust goes on and on with his philosophical babble. But for some reason Marty seems like he's more full of shit, especially when he talks about family and structure. He's just as out of control, he's just not as aware of it. I also liked the shot of Marty getting out a pill case and popping something with his coffee around the same time Rust orders up some beers (I think it was in the second episode). They both have their vices.
Soooo holy shit. The tracking shot at the end of the episode was unbelievable. Fucking epic
INTENSE SHIT
Cohle is a BAMF, he survived maximum chimp-out.
Awesome episode. Cohle is such a great character. He's got a quote or two every episode that's just killer. My fav this week: "With all the dick swagger you roll you can't spot crazy pussy?" This show is filling up the spot left vacant by Breaking Bad pretty nicely.
Episode was bananas. FYI, everything from the point where they're driving into the subdivision to the point where Cohle gets into the car with Hart is all one shot. That's freaking insane.
Shit's gonna go down next episode.
Insane episode.
Walking Dead is now my appetizer for this show. WD, then watched the GoT 15 min treaser, then TD.
This episode was fucking amazing.
someone's a Cuaron fan
HOOOOLY fuck just saw this. incredible
From the article that was posted:
They can't mean actual bullets, right?"We had ADs [assistant directors] all over the neighborhood because we had to release extras, crowd running background, police cars, stunt drivers. There were actual gun shots and stones being thrown through windows. There were a lot of things to put together," Fukunaga said.
Motorcycle bar and projects scenes were cray cray, so much tension
I thought the episode was a bit of a letdown until the last few scenes. With the way episode 3 ended, with Gasmask McGillicutty ambling around, I thought we'd get right to Ledoux, and was disappoint until the biker shit. And then BAM that was fucking amazing. It's interesting that they've both been telling the truth to the investigators in present day up until this point, with Cohle's story about his father covering the fact that they fucked shit up in east Texas.
Oh and Tits McGee showing up at Marty's house was pretty fucked up too.
Spoiler: show
