i've rewatched every episode so far. kinda interesting how tuttle potentially sets up cohle to walk into a buzz saw and he deftly avoids it. also didn't realize till the second time around tuttle was basically intimating how he knew about cohle's (alcoholic) past.

Man, I can't wait to see their talk next week.

My fav quote from this past episode doesn't even come from Rust:
"All my life I wanted to be nearer to God. The only nearness? Silence."

What was the deal with the tampons? Did he bring them to the bar as a reminder of his home life?

I got the impression all three of the women at his house were in need of them at the same time. Which would probably cause me to drink, too. Perhaps there was something I missed, though.

This show continues to leave me speechless. So good at everything.

edit: The King in Yellow stuff linked a page or two ago definitely makes it more interesting as well. Really looking forward to the 2 episodes left.

Just caught up. Disappointed in the episode but I can't wait until the Tuttle train hits full steam. Rust is gonna fuck some shit up and now Marty will be his partner in goonery. My wife brought up the idea of masks in terms of the tall man and the scarring, since Tuttle seems normal. Wanna see what's on the video in the teaser for next Sunday's ep. I'm just hoping the spaghetti man is Cthulhu.

Indeed. I'm surprised the BG thread doesn't have more buzz. Guess the hype train isn't anywhere close as walking dead. Which btw, I've given up on.

i imagine any fans of the walking dead would be turned away by an intelligent, engaging, gripping television show like this

That's the main advantage of an anthology series or one with a complete arc like Breaking Bad. It's more interesting when you know there will be an eventual payoff and closure.

Oh so each season will be self contained and we will get resolution this season. That's fantastic! Fuck TWD and their neverending zombie shitfest

Nah man it's the exact opposite. This show is so good it prevents the tampon parade from marching through here leaving string confetti all over the biz

x100000. We don't need no Dexter bullshit goin' down here.

My Sunday TWD group made the full switch to watching TD at 9:00 instead of TWD two weeks ago. Unanimous decision.

I like both shows. The Walking Dead is more of a "turn your brain off and enjoy the manufactured suspense and forget about it until next Sunday" and True Detective stays with you, and makes you think about the show all week.
