Thread: ePSXe 1.9 (optimal seetings?)    

Just downloaded this emulator and looking for the best plug-ins/configurations so the games look the best possible.

If anyone could help, it'd be appreciated

Pete's Open GL2 driver has awesome settings and would be ideal for sprite based games. If it's mainly 3D go with Pete's D3D driver instead. That's basically it, these games aren't gonna look much better than that. (UNLESS you download specific shaders) Though around 2009 I downloaded some shader effect files to enhance Xenogears, and it looks amazing, almost cel shaded, so clean.

The portraits, not so much, but a small price to pay imo.

Oh and as for configurations:

Those are mine anyway, not sure if they are ideal or optimal but after messing around with stuff, those were the best I could get. If it's a mix of both sprites and 3D you may want to boot the game up on both to see which looks better overall, it really depends on the game itself.

Holy crap at those Xenogears shaders. Any idea where to get those specific ones please? I replayed FF7 on PC for Tifa's HD mod it wasn't nearly as pretty as that. I did a quick Google and found nothing except an old thread here at BG that had a similar screenshot and a link to a settings guide. But the guide, and presumably the shader instructions, was 404.

Well here's a link to some shaders, specifically I think we want the cartoon shaders. Who wants to play around? I am in the process of moving so don't have too much time.

Thinking of replaying Xenogears. Anyone able to replicate those results?

Also, does anyone know how to make it where the 1 key doesn't toggle scroll lock when I'm using epsxe?

Bumping; having an issue where the sound disables itself when the emulator is not the active window. Haven't had this issue before today
