Maybe he shouldn't have appointed a (former?) CEO from a telecommunications lobbying group as the FCC chair..President Obama says the Internet should be more heavily regulated to ensure it stays open and independent.
In a public statement, Obama took a firm stand on a thorny issue: whether Internet providers can charge higher fees to place certain websites on Internet "fast lanes."
FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler has voiced his support for fast lanes, but the president urged Wheeler to change his mind.
Spoiler: show
why? this way he can have his cake and eat it too. he gets to pretend he cares and he also reaps all the funding that appointment earned him.
Can I pay for a fast lane to Riot's servers and get west coast ping????

apparently the guy is at least paying lip service to going along with it
Saw this retweeted on my Twitter earlier. Sad thing is, some will buy into it just because he said Obamacare.
"Obama is fighting for internet freedom, which companies are trying to take away." is the appropriate, jingoistic response to that.
Want to get upset (or not get upset and realize how cynical you are..)? I bet you do!

Nooo, Cory Booker! You made me love you then you spit on my face and broke my heart
pre-midterm shakedown is over, pretty sure this will be drudged up again when somebody needs some more money in their PAC
I'm too lazy to link (read: find) any articles about it, but there's overwhelming evidence that interest groups don't buy politicians as much as they donate to ones who already support their views. Since money is so important to our electoral process, it helps them win elections, thus putting people who already share their views into power. I imagine if you looked at speeches/the voting record of these politicians, they're all ones who have at some point favored these telecom companies.
maybe, but when you're selling cars you stock the ones that make you the most money.
