Is it really that bad to do missions? Took me like three days to do it on my mule for her refresh earring, and that's probably due to JP midnight waits somewhere.

You dont get medals through missions?
his complaint was losing medals not gaining them
Gaining them would actually be a valid complaint, since as far as I know they haven't increased the rate at which you can ask to be promoted.
Right, I'm criticizing a system that arbitrarily takes something away and I just want shit handed to me. Should I take this with you being okay with losing Assault ranks if you don't run them enough? City ranks if you don't keep turning in crystals and shit weekly? Fame in Sandy because you didn't trade a bajillion cabbage to some old fart?
Rinse the cruor from your cooch because me not liking "ALLIANCE ALL DA THINGS" is miles away from wanting charity.
That's all invalid because there's a simple way to stop decay; you just have to do something that you should be doing anyways.
And I'm taking a, "It was dumb then. It's still dumb now..." approach to it. Yes, finishing WotG missions nowadays is a lot easier if you're i117+. Would've been nice to not have to worry about that shit when WotG was fresh, though.
what job wouldn't want a moonshade earring anyway
It's not arbitrary. If you do like 1 campaign battle a month OR you do the missions you wont lose the medal. If you don't you will. Let's just get rid of all the penalties because they aren't applied to everything. Bivoacs? Well you don't lose staging points from beseiged!!! Astral candy? Well you don't lose other signet effects! For that matter losing npcs in aht urghan!!!
And it's not like it's some crazy hard requirement. You can litterally maintain with 1 battle a month. And if doing campaign that often or doing the super easy missions is too much for you you probably aren't spending any time in WotG to begin with so why are complaining? Hell the only reason to have medals is to buy higher tier stuff which you'd need to farm AN for anyways and there isn't really anything worth buying to begin with.
I think you're imgining a way too positive (??) scenario.
I think they want to fix campaign for people who need to catch up or things that are excessively broken.
They definitely do not want to bring mass of people back to WotG areas doing campaign daily.
I doubt they want to spend that much resources on WotG stuff revamping content THAT much. I could understand BCs or something, but campaign? Hmmmm...
I see their focus still being Delve, SoA and revisited mission battlefields.
Just my two cents of course.
You would think so right? But at the same time somebody is complaining about needing sea access for reforged armor sets and what a grind it is, even though by their own admission they started playing in 2009 or 2010.
And screw WotG missions. Completed main story, Windurst and San'doria, but damn escort mission for Bastok has been blocking me for months.
-you mean on top of my guild points?
-on top of my daily coalitions?
-daily assault and salvage run?
-60 to 90 minutes of crafting bait daily?
I have about 3 hours of things I do in-game that are repetitive and AREN'T group events. Having to commit time merely to tread water in an event, not even to make progress in it, is a huge waste. And it's a waste of time I don't have- yup, I don't have another 30 minutes when there are so many other things I could be doing with my time and getting more out of it.
When there weren't so many systems in the game that required maintaining, it was easier to stay on top of things. Now, it just isn't feasible to expect someone to pop back in time and do a campaign battle daily while also doing SoA coalitions, VW, dynamis, salvage, delve, keep adding them on where does it end?
I've never understood the rage towards Campaign. I came back long after it mattered, so I barely paid much attention to it. I know that back in the day, you could be demoted for not being active in it. But now, you're not, as long as you've made progress in the missions. Some still rage about it like it's some massive time sink that they can't be bothered with, but I don't understand the target of that rage. If you don't want to bother with it, then why complain anyways? You're not losing anything (as long as you've done the missions, which you should have, is what Kyte's response was to, I think) regardless.
Personally, my only complaint with the entire system is that my medal voids out after 30 days of inactivity or whatever. Queue World's Greatest Man "I don't do Campaign often, but when I do, I have to refresh my medal." That's my only annoyance with it, make the damn models not time out. Other than that, if you're interested in the content, then go do it, grind it just like any other system in this game, get your rank, be happy. If not, then shut the fuck up about how it's some horrible chore.
I'm sorry, if you didn't bother with WotG when it was relevant content why do you care about your medals expiring now? They can only rank down one time if you don't maintain it unless you're constantly going in the past to talk to the npc to rank down further. The missions were easy at 75-90 (yeah they took that long that the lvl cap raise happened during them.) I have to imagine they're piss easy with item lvl gear now.
Let's be honest they weren't particularly hard at 75 or 90 (the 75 ones I seem to recall you could just cure Lilisette through most of them and the 90 ones weren't particularly difficult for pet classes or some shit)
gnashing and whinging about WotG is about as relevant as doing the same for RotZ
That would seal the deal as far as Campaign being dead in the water.
Edit: Well no, actually, if the mobs start dropping stuff, then I can see it would bring interest if they were 110+.
I've been putting off on doing campaign until I get my RoE gear. I've already lost 3 medals *shurgs*.
