So I think I am going to drop a chunk of my tax return on a portable device, but it seems in this sector of the market there is a lot of moving parts so to speak in regards to tablets vs laptops vs ones that convert and then the whole Windows 8 shit-storm.
I would probably lean toward Android over Apple if going the tablet route. Price isn't a big deal, but I don't want to go blow 1200+ on it.
I would use it like any other tablet user, streaming/movies/web surfing/etc. I would be fine with wi-fi only.
I would like to be able to do NES/SNES emulation on it. Though a lot of these tablets I am seeing lack a USB port for a controller. Would you rely on touchscreen controls for that or is there a USB converter option?
In terms of the differences between a straight tablet and one of the conversion laptop/tablet models, how are those in terms of a product standpoint? Are there sacrifices anywhere to achieve the versatility, or are they going to be generally as strong as a priced tablet counterpart? Are they sturdy enough to feel like it isnt going to fall apart if you sneeze on it?
