Is there any particular reason why people are MTing PLDs instead of WARs in T9?

Wouldn't inner beast be much more useful than the PLDs various buffs during the first phase with the somewhat predictable Beak/explosion/dive timings?

More DPS as a WAR OT last I checked (unless you were referring to single-tank), and PLD has enough cooldowns to rotate to deal with the scripted damage anyhow.

because ravensbeak isn't the only hardhitting moves, even cleaves hits very hard, explosions are ugly if you do not have IB up. It's manageable but they are extra work for the healers.

Wat, WAR MT + PLD OT will do far more DPS than the alternative.

^ This. Like WAY more.

We use a single PLD which makes phase1,3,4 a complete joke to tank. PLDs CDs are tuned perfectly for t9 and single tanking you don't need WARs DPS advantage. If you are tanking WAR MT, PLD OT is a big DPS increase but WAR has to be on their toes a bit more then PLD with the cleaves and AA crits.

Main reason PLD is still designated MT in T9, imo, is just because it's easier to manage cooldowns. I've tried to map out a completely solo (no tank-swap) WAR CD rotation for Claws based on theory (vs experience) and it just looks painful without relying on Holmgang+Bene for one set. PLD's is perfectly tuned for it with a Rampart-Sent-Rampart-HG-Rampart-Sent skeleton.
