Ping-Pong the Animation

So this is just awesome. The style, the music, the animation, the story and characters. Everything is just right. Watch it.

I couldn't find an official summary, but it's basically about a robotic child and his hyper energetic friend who play ping-pong. The emotionless kid is somewhat of a problem child who has fantasies about a hero who will save him (maybe via ping-pong).

Five episodes out so far, and the latest one was awesome. I could watch it only for the variations of the opening (I like the latest version the most), but I completely love the show's style - the way they manage to convey emotions keeps amazing me. You could think that it can't be too serious a show considering the drawing style, but it only sticks out when they try to make it look over-the-top ridiculous; in all other situations, it wonderfully emphasizes everything in a fitting way.

I agree, really happy in seeing his changes and it really makes you hope he makes a comeback. Such dramatic character developments in just 6 episodes. The anime is fantastic

Wenge is probably my favourite character so far, though I'm sad to see that Manabu seems to have given up on Ping Pong for good. He was a little extreme, but I love hard-working underdogs. Not sure how I feel about Smile's current development, though I suppose it's not exactly that he's become unsociable, it's more that we're seeing his unsociable tendencies combined with an actual desire to improve. I'm pleasantly surprised that Peco is going to continue after all, though.

I thought it was an amazing episode, my favourite one so far. A pity that we've seen an important loss so early; it probably would have helped had Smile not been all alone in his block.

That shoe-commercial, though - it's so bad it's good.

I agree! Episode was phenomenal!! Was expecting a cheesy comeback but wow, it was faaar from cheesy. Best episode so far and sets up the next one so well! I'm guessing next week is going to be the last episode?

I didn't think it could get even better than last week's episode, but this was amazing.
I wonder if there will be eleven or twelve episodes, though neither would be sufficient if they could maintain this kind of level.

The show definitely went out with a bang and did everything right. It's too bad it's over, I'll miss watching it.
On another note, they did a great job with that German announcer, even got the pronounciation right.
