You can also get involved in other stuff at school. Most schools have sports for both competitive and recreational.
Check out some of the clubs most don't care if you show up each and every time.

I lol'd, then shook my head.
Don't be like me!
Besides that you can't force friends. Just go to places people are and where you engage people. That or let it happen on its own. Making friends for the sake of making friends is a waste.
If all else fails you could just make a thread about making friends.
(I figured I haven't posted in what? Over a year and a half? Why not?)
have you resolved this, btw?
I have become more outgoing and talk to people more often. There are a few people in each of my classes with whom I chat pretty regularly. We don't hang out otherwise (though I wouldn't be opposed to some study groups or something) but instead of retreating into my shell when I'm in a public space, I have begun to feel more comfortable putting myself out there.
I still mostly just hang out with my boyfriend in my spare time, although (to be fair) I really don't have a whole lot of it. I also have a really good friend that I know through social media and with whom I chat on Facebook frequently. She's up in North Carolina so I haven't met her yet but online friends totally count, right?
So I guess ... better? Fixing social awkwardness/anxiety isn't exactly a quick fix but even my boyfriend has noticed when I come out of my shell and hold conversations with people, even total strangers, which I never really did before.
That's good, seems liek things are coming around well.
If you're really feeling it, fight for your friends and keep them around and growing in numbers!
Another problem with doing things on campus is that I'll see an activity that I want to participate in, but it's either during class or when I'm at work. And as much as I'd love to quit my job to just be a full time student, that's not really feasible.
Well we are having a professor-led study group for one of my classes this week, thing is, it's the class I'm carrying a 100% average in (actually higher with the extra credit) so I don't really need it. I guess I could go just to go.
That's true, I hadn't thought of that.
Your Madden gif is mesmerizing and I'm sorry but I can't stop looking at the pixelated bulge.
I haven't been paying attention to football this year.
Just posting to say that the giferator is indeed awesome.
