It will be interesting to see how they approach this. Obviously, it'll be on X/Y's engine. I wonder how much 3D they're going to attempt. I would be fine with none as long as they fix the frame rate issues X/Y had.

Will this be like HG/SS where it had some Crystal elements in? Should we expect Battle Frontier or just Battle Tower?

Also wonder if this marks the end of "Gen 6", or should we still expect a X/Y2 or Z?

there was an interviewer with gamefreak around jan that said there more likely going to do another gen instead of x/y+1 but i suppose it depends on what Nintendo want

I'm genuinely surprised by this. Ruby was one of my favorite games lol. I'll have to buy it for that alone. It was also one maybe 5 GBA games I purchased.

Curious how they'll redo some of it. Rayquaza will probably end up with a mega form, wonder what else.

Ruby and Sapphire haven't been remade yet, not sure why they'd go and remake gen 1 a second time before remaking gen 4 on the 4DS or w/e future handheld Nintendo makes, shortly after Gen 7 that is. They make remakes for the simple fact that people will buy them. And they take far less effort to make than a new game.

But whatever, I'm excited for this. Hoenn in 3D! I also loved the music from this game so a re-orchestration with better samples is gonna sound great. I've been waiting for these remakes since heartgold/soulsilver. Also, I'm glad they're continuing to have worldwide releases for pokemon games.

I don't think it takes "Far less" effort, definitely less effort, but not by much, since the only thing they technically don't have to do is make new Pokemon. I mean in reality I think making a new Gen of Pokemon, or remaking an old one would be similar effort if they're doing it in the X/Y engine.

They already have the script, no new pokemon outside possible new mega-evolutions, can reuse assets like pokemon centers, npcs, etc. Speaking of the script, I wonder if it will be regular ruby/sapphire or a hybrid with emerald like HG/SS was with cystal, like someone else mentioned. Also wonder if there will be player customization/outfits like in X/Y.

I will gladly take a remake of my favorite gen then a brand new gen that was rushed since X Y just came out

If you think about it, originally (with Fire Red and Leaf Green) the remakes were needed since Gen I and II weren't compatible Gen III, making it so there were some Pokemon that were impossible to get.

For having loved pokemon so much when I was younger; manga, anime, cards, r/b/g/y.. I never really got super excited about it once the next generation came out. X/Y didnt appeal to me, and this certainly does not. As a once huge fan of the series (and still really wants to be), stop making this remakey bullshit. Stop making the same thing over and over.

Hell, I would accept an actual console version and would be so happy. MMO? Shit, I would explode.
