the allmighty whedon said he regrets doing that, so i think serenity would get retconned. if it ever happened, which i rather doubt.
Spoiler: show
The main reason we'll never see Firefly on kickstarter is that it's cursed (oh and that whole Avengers thing is taking up a lot of time). But god do I wish for it to happen. The love for the show doesn't seem to be losing much momentum over the years. And if it was on kickstarter I'd be all over that so fast. ...yeah, it would be pretty terrifying.
RR kickstarter is almost at 2m. Any minute now.
Two Million
lol 200% funding in what, less than 24 hours? slightly more?
Slightly more.
It will probably break 3 million in the next few hours.
The first stretch goal is 5 million.
That puts the school program in 6000 more classrooms, and they'll be able to pay for development to get the application on android, mobile devices, consoles (BG parents take note), and tv boxes like Roku and whatnot.
Will probably be 3m within 15 minutes now. About 7k off.
Three Million!
This was LeVar's reaction when they hit $1million. I can only imagine what they're going through now that they hit 3.
Edit: In a moment of fan-gasm, the Reading Rainbow twitter just favourited and re-tweeted my last tweet
I think it's absolutely awesome that LeVar noticed the change in connecting with audiences and acted on it. He saw that TV was on the decline and how digital things/game consoles are becoming more and more popular in that regard
Did Levar ever respond to a collabo with Thug Notes? Probably won't happen now if they never got to speak to eachother.
So to help reach the new stretch goal of 5 million, if you donate 1200 (and they reach 5mil) you can go to a live reading with members of star trek, including Shatner, Stewart, McFadden, Dorn, etc. You must bring a kid though.
too bad i dont have that much money. i'd donate and take one of my nephews. they're teenagers, still technically kids. or, if i put it off a few years, i could take my grandniblings.
http://www.newser.com/article/c4d3d9...undraiser.htmlLeVar Burton's "Reading Rainbow" fundraising effort is getting a boost from a generous pal, Seth MacFarlane.
MacFarlane has promised to match up to $1 million in pledges made on the Kickstarter website so that an online version of "Reading Rainbow" can be made available without charge to an expanded number of underfunded classrooms, Burton said in a statement Thursday.
MacFarlane's offer is in effect through 3 p.m. EDT on July 2, when the online fundraiser is to conclude.
less than 48 hours left, $411,484 to go. They've set a new record for most backers, so every backer gets a bookmark.
5m hit a little bit ago. So figure another 1m from Seth and who knows who else from other celebs behind the scenes.
Final official number is $5,408,916 + $1mil from MacFarlane. From 105,857 backers, going to go to over 9,500 classrooms for free. Kinda nuts
that averages out to $51.10 per person. not counting seth's million.
Superb. I'm thrilled. I honestly wish I could have thrown in more money than I did. I hope that their execution of their plans goes smoothly.
