Well damn. all i saw was it resembled a musket and didn't take a really close look at it. In my defense, i've never leveled fishing so i didn't know what ffxiv fishing rods or AF looked like. (nor have i watched crocodile dundee).
We will spare you this transgression this one time.
YOUR POST INSPIRED THREE PEOPLE TO ASK ME IF IT WAS TRUE AND IT'S NOT
FFXIV E3 Bingo.
Spoiler: show
You fucking kidding me? Free space and it's not "Please look forward to it"?
We'll have a bingo in under 4 minutes.
Gimmie Muskateer -> Corsair for job class. I do miss my guns.
I didnt think to record it but at the theaters for the sony press conference right before the show was a FFXIV trailer. Last bit of it showed spoken cutscene with Urianger talking about the lord of levin and about 10 seconds of battle with Ramuh. It then closed with a quick 2 second shot of Shiva unsheathing a weapon (I can't remember exactly if it was a sword and I think it was red).
Ninja, tank class, make it happen SE.
I'd prefer a samurai tank class. Make good use of that awesome samurai armor! Maybe consolidate the classes and have it use ninjutsu magic to tank... Far fetched, but they seem to be consolidating jobs anyway.
I could definitely see them rolling out a tank and/or healer as the first set of new classes, just to balance queues for a bit even temporarily when everyone rushes to level them. DPS queues aren't bad anyways, but I'd imagine SE hears the ones screaming that they are.
Don't see adding more tanks or healers helping the queue situation any, at least not in the long term. Such is generally more a play style preference with the roles themselves carrying their own pressures. So, if one day they add Samurai and it's a tank, it'll just be the current WARs and PLDs playing it for keeps with very little bleedover.
Don't wanna see ninja as a tank class, myself. And while I generally loathe the rogue archetype in MMOs simply because of the demand for stealth abilities it tends to carry (and resulting PvP OPness), I'd rather ninja slide more into this philosophy more for namesake. Plus there's no way in hell we'll see Utsusemi here as it came about in XI. And if we do, Yoshi's officially jumped the shark.
I'm not too fussed about Utsusemi. It works in FFXI because of its slow combat pace and where evasion/debuffs actually means something. Going along the lines of the current system should they add this ability in to shut people up, it'll probably work like this:
Utsusemi
Cast: Instant
Recast: 2 mins
Effect: Allows you to dodge the next 3 direct attacks for 10 seconds
Cross Class: Yes : all jobs
In short, it'll be more or less useless/a side dish or there'll be some niche use for it like Manawall and Titan boulders/landslide lol
However should any new classes arise, I'm somewhat concerned with how creative they can get in terms of playstyle.
Well... a tank would need some sort of "haha can't die" ability on a long cool down.
Utsusemi wouldn't be too far of a stretch if ninja was a tank.
It won't be jumping the shark until you see every dps using it cross-class and not needing tanks to clear content anymore.
Gun job healer... wtf!
No, I meant WTF... and for the FFX-2 reference, I don't remember Yuna healing as Gunner, nor remembering Alchemist being a healer only job, it was taken from Rikku's overdrive ability to create all sort of effect in X.
thats even more WTF, i'd be happy to see a corsair job like in XI that give you bonus rolls like Double attacks & stuff..
