Final Fantasy Explorers

Jump this week reveals Final Fantasy Explorers, a new four-player multiplayer action RPG from Square Enix, for 3DS.

In pursuit of the crystal, players will battle beasts standing in their way with job techniques, magic, and more. Four jobs, the White Mage, Monk, Knight, and Black Mage, are pictured in the magazine.

A release date is not yet determined.

I was worried this was just gonna be more final fantasy crystal chronicles/bravely default (which are great but tired of them) but apparently this is more of an online monster hunter kind of game. Color me intrigued

Man i really enjoyed Crystal Chronicles... especially the Gameboy ones. But I have to say, an online Monster hunter-like Final Fantasy? I'm having to echo you here... very intriguing. I hope its good.

Starting class will be Freelancer, a few weapons confirmed

When you start Final Fantasy Explorers your character won’t have a specific job like White Mage or Monk. Players will be Freelancers and can create equipment for their characters by defeating enemies or summoned monsters to get raw materials. Similar to other hunting games, acquiring rare materials is the key to getting better gear.

Swords, gloves, staves, rods, axes, spears, and bells are confirmed as weapons in Final Fantasy Explorers.

Square Enix added both local wireless and Internet multiplayer for the game. When you’re online you can talk to other players using a simple chat system which has preset text phrases.

Looking at it, I'd say it seems to play a lot more like Type-0 than Monster Hunter. Type-0 is friggin awesome though so that's still pretty damn good.
