What a fantastic backstory episode. Was almost starting to wonder if Mike had just been a retired state worker doing a pittance job and collecting a pension before he teamed up with Jimmy/Saul.

I'm really loving it too. At the current moment in the show, it's hard to envision what events are going to unfold that takes us from the well-intentioned Jimmy we've got now to Breaking Bad's Saul. It should be an entertaining trip though!

Since chuck is attached to the sandpiper lawsuit (and used HMM to print hundreds of dollars in documents for it), hamlin is going to be able to steal the case after something happens to him following his trek outside. Kim isn't going to sac her career to try to help jimmy.

I'm just thinking it's a little early in the series to progress Jimmy that far toward his "conversion" to Saul.

So got a question for you guys: The girlfriend and I haven't (yet!) watched Breaking Bad. But she has taken a liking to Better Call Saul, so we've been watching it. When should we watch Breaking Bad? Would the BCS experience be different knowing what the character is like in BB? Or is it being written with a few easter eggs that we're going to miss by not knowing BB while watching BCS?

watching breaking bad isn't going to change how you watch BCS that much honestly, BB should be watched on its own merit of being one of the best television shows ever aired. that said, i really enjoyed this episode and how they portrayed howard. also loved everything about mike being awesome, especially the bad guy/criminal speech.

When a masked Walt and Jesse abduct Saul and take him out to a shallow grave in the desert to scare him, he's genuinely terrified and yells: "No, it wasn't me, it was Ignacio! He's the one!" before speaking agitatedly in Spanish and asking if "Lalo" sent them.
