Northern Illinois people: looking for place for fun with gf

Im looking for a place to go with the girlfriend for some entertainment on Sunday.
I just moved to DeKalb nearly a month ago, but ive lived in Kankakee my whole life so im aware of the bigger attractions in Chicago. Im thinking more like lesser known yet still popular stuff in the outlying areas. Like last week we went to the Fabyan Gardens/Frank Lloyd Wright house in Geneva and the week before that we went to Starved Rock in Attowa. We were going to go to Starved Rock again tomorrow but the thunderstorms may put a stop to that.
Anyone got any other suggestions?
Cheap is also a plus.

There is always six flags in Gurnee. Little bit of a hike but if you like roller coasters they have some good ones. Goliath just opened up. Water park is a plus as well.

Riverboat Casino (Grand Victoria Casino) in Elgin along the Fox River.

Botanical Gardens in Highland Park (not "exciting" but beautiful).

Ravinia's Sunday show is "Chanticleer" - I don't know who that is but if you are stuck on Sunday then that's it (https://www.ravinia.org/Calendar)

Lowden State park with the Black Hawk statue is a great place for day hikes. Castle Rock State park is also near there. In southern Wisconsin, I use to love going to Kettle Moraine State park.

botanical gardens is a fucking panty dropper, amazing place to take a girlfriend or someone you're on like a 3rd date status with.

Weather was nice so we went to Starved Rock where we originally had planned.

Arlington race track is pretty fun. Morton Arboretum is a cool place as well.... And there's always the Wisconsin Dells but that can get pricey.


If you're cool with the drive, Turkey Run in Indiana is fun as hell. You can go canoeing with a cooler... getting drunk and floating down the river is the best! If you're adventurous you can climb up and jump off the bridges overlooking the river as well, but it looks a little scary to me personally, so I've never done it. Theres some great hiking there as well.
