For those that are trying to get the 4* rod from the FFIV elite dungeon, two of the mastery points come from using dark and lightning attacks (exploit weakness), and another comes from not using water attacks (e.g. Wakka's SB).

tips for getting past Vargas? my main problem is defense. I have a Crystal Sword relic that is overpowered in VI world so my damage is decent enough. I think I just need to run some dungeons and keep fusing gear until I have better defense. I spent all my stamina on the coin dungeon this weekend so I'm wealthy enough; it's just that I don't have gear to spend it on.

also, character unlocks need to be more common. I get that not every dungeon will give you a character but I'm four dungeons into VI and I still don't have any VI characters. come on, that's just ridiculous.

Cloud, Tidus, Wakka, Kain, and Rydia are the only named characters out so far (for us). I think Cyan is the next one.

All things considered, I'm surprised you pull for gear instead of characters. Not that I'm complaining, but I think they'd make a lot more money if you had to pull for characters. They made gear very important, but at the end of the day, they're just stat sticks (aside from SB-changing weapons). The characters are what we are attached to and nostalgic about.

Example:
3* - core classes
4* - lesser named characters
5* - main characters

If people are already spending $80+ to get a Buster Sword, just imagine how much they'd spend for Cloud himself. Or Sephiroth.

also, that explains things. I thought there were more characters available that I was missing out on. I have all the named characters, then... for now. can't wait until they add more.

also, if we have to pull for characters because Squenix sees your post and implements the idea I'm going to come kick you in the genitals. so far my experience has been that the characters don't matter much - warrior vs. tidus with a Crystal Sword is going to end up about the same, unless you're playing a X board. at least I haven't noticed much of a difference in base damage; it's all about gear.

If they keep it like the JP version none of the characters will be purchasable or random draws, they are gotten through new free story content updates and from limited time events. The timed events will be around level 25-30 so make that your focus for now.

I'm just sorta mindlessly grinding the last FFVI dungeon and whatever daily is out. I literally auto battle and walk away from my phone.

My team is mid 20s but I don't feel like trying the hard mode shit yet. I've cleared all the "normal" content and have gotten completely shafted on the mythril lottery draw things. The only 3+ stuff I have is genji armor 5*, rune axe 4*, Bastard sword 3*, Death sickle 3*, Diamond mace 3*, Silver harp 3*, and red cap 3*

I absolutely patently refuse to sink any cash into this game so I don't think I'll be getting the Buster Sword. Is there a trick to getting more mythril? I don't think I can grind out the hard mode dungeons yet and it seems like the dailies are the only way to get mythril now.

I don't think my team of roughly 2* gear is going to cut it to the harder content and I feel sorta at a standstill.

EDIT: Out of all the farming I did in the gem dungeon today, I can't upgrade or get anything new yet. WTF? I don't have a single 2* ability and I've only got enough gems to upgrade a few of my 1* shit to level 2. Whoopie! >_>
