I'm not a praying type, so best wishes to everybody involved! Having kids sure does soften you up to this kind of thing.

We found out a little bit about the donor. It's a man who is brain dead in New Jersey. His family approved the organ harvest. The liver was split in two and is being used for two children(including Evan) both under the age of 2. Thank God for the donor and his family.
Another update. Evan's liver is at the mid point. It's either going to work or it's not. His ammonia levels are still too high. Doctor says that it is a 50/50 shot that the liver will function. If not he will need a second transplant. Not great news.
Update. Evan is being moved into the normal transplant wing. His liver is producing bile and his ammonia numbers are down to acceptable levels. Unfortunately his liver is also leaking bile. In order for the liver to repair itself Evan is being force fed via tubing a nonstop stream of pedialyte and pediasure for 22 hours of the day. This keeps the liver constantly functioning which causes it to repair itself.
Unfortunately, as a result he is throwing up dozens of times during the course of the feedings. He is miserable but they have to keep feeding him until the leak heals. Here are some update pictures. Be warned the first one is difficult to look at it if you're sensitive towards children being injured/in pain. I will spoiler it. That scar runs the entire width of his stomach.
Spoiler: show
And here he is being moved to the transplant wing.
god damn. poor guy looks miserable. i can only imagine how rough that must be for his parents, too. still, sounds like things are progressing well enough. that's good to hear. hopefully in a few years this'll all just be an unpleasant memory.
You just want to hug the little dude :/
Wow, go go modern medicine. Hopefully he pulls through and this will only be remembered from pictures.
It's hard for us because they're our friends and Evan is only a month older than Noah. So you can't help but feel terrible. We feel bad for Noah when he has a fever and here's this little dude getting a new liver. On top of that Evan's mother is 6 months pregnant. So she's already a hormonal mess.
Evan has been in my thoughts every day since the operation.
I'm afraid I will pass on looking at that picture. :< Evan, you're too young to be breaking my heart.
I look forward to his full recovery.
Bad news today. Evan's liver has clotted which means barring some sort of a miracle he is going to be put back on the transplant list.
If you are the praying type please say one for Evan and his family. He is hour to hour right now. He may not last long enough for another donor liver to come available. This little man is fighting for his life.
Evan has been bumped up to #1 on the organ receiver list.
well shit.
Evan has been put on dialysis because his kidneys are no longer functioning. There has been no news on a replacement liver. If he doesn't get a miracle soon he will not make it. The doctors are saying he's hour to hour at this point.
Here I was thinking this was a happy story then blam-o right in the feel organs. :/
Hang in there 'lil guy, we're all sending you positive vibes...
If anyone is O positive blood type near Georgetown feel free to go get tested. You could be a potential match for Evan. You could save his life.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
i would if i could
They have a potential liver for Evan. The surgeons are in the air now flying to get it. Sadly the liver is coming from another 16 month old that has passed away. There's no guarantee this liver is a match either. If it is a valid match Evan may be too sick to survive another transplant.
GOD FUCKING DAMN IT
Please, just please let this work out. Doesn't matter if this requires a miracle, the little guy deserves it.
