:< It's not a demo but it's me playing the JP version: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...2joIKZmSMwC5Xv Voice was loud... I was told that it was too quiet for people over and over so I boosted it a mite bit too much

The Bird is an example of a really tough enemy that you shouldn't mess with. The Hunter was me switching over to Hunter after leveling a different Life and seeing how it played (blind, had no idea what I was doing).

Out of curiosity, what do you use to record your 3DS footage? One of those capture video things?

For the 3DS: I have a modded Japanese 3DS, cost quite a bit of money for both... and the shipping. Only two places support the actual modifying of your 3DS for this. Loopy (US) and Katsukity (Japan). Katsukity has a smaller queue--either he has more help or just time... but Loopy's seems to be the better product. Oh. Loopy doesn't currently mod 3DS XLs yet though. I am definitely waiting on him to do that for me to get my 3DS XL modded.

Even though you didn't ask, lol:
For the consoles: AverMedia HD Live capture card.
    For the Vita: PS TV

Thanks for the tips Mina, went up on eShop at 9pm PST last night so I got to play some last night and today. Loving it.

    Gotta get back to hunting!

I heard PS TV is actually pretty hit or miss and doesn't support all games. Wouldn't know though, but at the same time a modded Vita with video capture goes ~450 so yeah.... ouch...

Welll errrr... I haven't investigated the DLC cooompletely...

But this is what I know from the JP version and JP Version Link!

    Original game...
    Level cap was 99
    Skills were capped at 15
    and stats capped at 50

    Fantasy Life Link!
    Level cap increased to 200
Level cap for the skills increased to 20
    Stats cap increased to 100

Even worse, I've had a couple streamer friends get broken modded Vitas. Where once they were dropped something happened and they completely stopped working. The... warranty policy for that is a little... ehhhhh... I was never a fond person for that.

I bought the PS TV knowing which games it was able to work with. I got my Persona 4 Golden TV so it's ALLLL good.

True, still would be nice to have something to link up to my laptop though when I'm on the go. But my laptop doesn't have an HDMI port so I guess that point is kinda moot.

Thinking about picking up this game.. A lot of reviews are comparing it to Harvest Moon and those are the type of games I really enjoy.

It'd be a little off from the old style of Harvest Moon... I think I do like the comparison to Rune Factory.

Harvest Moon is farming simulation with dating simulation/friendships... and sometimes festivals/story plot/etc.
Rune Factory is all of the above + monster battling/capturing + dungeon crawling + heavier emphasis on crafting.
Fantasy Life is like Rune Factory subtracting the Harvest Moon elements like farming and dating simulation and adding multiplayer and more depth into the gathering/mining and some other stuff...

Basically Fantasy Life would be the more battle-oriented sort of RPG, Harvest Moon is the farm simy sort of RPG, Rune Factory shoots for the stars and lands in both categories.

But I have no doubt someone who likes Harvest Moon would probably like Fantasy Life. Despite the lack of farming.

So how does partying work if a friend is a higher level? Will he just bulldoze through everything and the game will be bland/boring as hell?

Also, I'm with Rata. Thanks for making me spend more money...

I'm going to be 100% honest, I've never done the multiplayer even once because I wanted to kinda have that fresh experience with people >_>;; All I can tell you is based on what I've seen or heard or how the game explained it to me.

    Things you can't do in co-op :
    Spoiler: show

Probably the only things I find annoying:
    - can't grab additional quests (It's annoying if you want to grab more quests but... yeah)
    - you can't change jobs (It's fine because if you level your shit you can still change your equipment around. You just can't work towards leveling a different class if you aren't on it when you join the multiplayer)

    Minor-ish inconvenience:
    - you can't advance in the story
    - you can't respec your character

It's fine due to the change:
    - you can't use quick map teleport [due to a switch in how teleport works in co-op]

    Why would you want to:
    - you can't change your character's appearance (hair styles)
    - you can't interfere with the host's housing decorations
    - you can't use the horse (if you're not the host)

What works in co-op/differences in co-op:
    Spoiler: show

    - exp is shared
    - each player has his own loot so no need to fight over loot. Only bounties are unique and up to 3 for all the party.
    - You get more exp if all players help kill the same mob.
    - Challenges like killing X mobs are counted for players with the quest even if you do not assist.
    - Bounties reward multiply with the number of players.
    - You can teleport to players within your online party with the map.
    - You can view where other players are on the map.

There are 3 save files for you to utilize so if you wanted to make a newbie character to play with friends you can do that. :>
Also this game uses the old FFXIV system with the whole character lvl vs job lvl. Yeah I know other games do it too but we're BG so easiest comparison.

Does life skill (like Life +10 STR +2) carry over with other lives? or just to the life you got those skills from

Well I did some hunting around on GameFAQs and someone made a post saying they're level 200 and if you need help with w/e to add them. So I'm assuming that means that a high level could bulldoze through combat if you wanted.
