Best version of the FF "main theme"?

There's a lot of back and forth on which is the best FF game, and we will most certainly never agree, but, what are the best versions of the "main theme" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=552_znU_sGs ) ?

I love listening to this thing, but I can never make up my mind

The Hamaguchi arranged version in the FF8 credit roll. Zell choking on sweet bread, Selphie wearing a hat, a terrified Angelo escaping the madness, the blinking camcorder battery life indicator. Easy choice; a good memory.

I've always liked the mix GT did with the title selects.

Found this gem the other day, is from an album back in 2011. Ironically I only discovered upon it because someone else linked me to some FF Maevius trailer that featured the song which has got nothing to do with the game, but when I heard it I instantly dropped interest in the game and seeked out the track:

VIII's was awesome in how it cuts to it after Eyes on Me, it almost seems seamless.

Yeh it's a bump but it's relevant! This forum sees little action.

@Chari: I never heard 11's before... where does it play?!

iirc it plays after you beat the crystal for the first mini-expac during the ending of that whole scenario.

I always like the dissidia versions. But looking for the the opening themes aren't what I remember liking (though I guess they aren't bad).

Edit: Oh wait, this is it.

XI really does have so many amazing songs. I highly suggest checking out some of it's albums, though I admit having been in the world makes them mean more.

totally agree. it isn't just seamless. it flows naturally into the next part of the arrangement.. which is what i love about FF8s ending medley. In comparison, VII was disjointed as heck. but it has a lot to do with the way VIII's soundtrack was - one of the most cohesive works Uematsu has ever done. even when the musical style is radically different, its not far enough to feel out of place. And also so understated. VIII never goes overly grandiose like how Hamauzu likes to do. Its one of the rare times where the music isn't competing with the scene for your attention. (i also think its one of the best endings in the series consequently)

to this extent i love the later work that Mizuta has done for XI cos its also cohesive and has the additional challenge of fitting in an MMORPG environment. I think WotG is his best work in XI.
