But if they are calling this the New 3DS in America then this best be the last 3DS.
What would you call the one after that? :\
Newer 3DS. Newest 3DS. They got 2 more left!
Bla, I didn't buy my XL that long ago, maybe I should ebay it now before these come out.
I'll probably end up buying it.. lol god damn it nintendo.
If the specs I read on the 3DS's top screen are accurate (800x240 2D, 400 x 240 3D) it might be technically worse. Should still look better due to pixel density though.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/new/index.htmlNintendo Co., Ltd. will launch “New Nintendo 3DS” and “New Nintendo 3DS XL” on October 11, 2014 in Japan, at the suggested retail prices of 16,000 yen and 18,800 yen (prices not including consumption tax), respectively. The systems will be the newest members of the Nintendo 3DS family, the sales of which in Japan alone are estimated to already top 16 million units to date.
The new C-Stick, ZL button and ZR button, which will enhance the play controls of the existing Nintendo 3DS hardware, have been added, and the new “Super-Stable 3D” function will provide players with an even more comfortable 3D gaming experience. Furthermore, the new “NFC feature” will enable the use of the “amiibo” on Nintendo 3DS.
As for “New Nintendo 3DS,” the LCD screens are bigger than those of the existing Nintendo 3DS, and the exterior design of the hardware can be customized simply by exchanging the “Cover Plates,” which will be sold separately.
As for the overseas markets, our local subsidiaries will separately confirm. However, there will be no U.S. and European launches this calendar year.
considering i bought a 3DS about 3 months ago, kinda bitter!
Monster Hunter 4 & Super Smash Bros. bundles announced
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/08/29...o-3ds-bundles/This morning, Nintendo announced a special New Nintendo 3DS bundle that comes with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in Japan. It will be one of the first limited edition models for the new handheld series, and will release simultaneously with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on October 11, 2014 for 25,600 yen (about $246.22).
Nintendo were keen to point out that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and even this December’s Final Fantasy Explorers will both take advantage of the New Nintendo 3DS’ second analog stick, even though you don’t require it to play either game. Capcom and Square Enix have been in on the secret for a while.
Additionally, Super Smash Bros. will also get a bundle. In the case of Smash Bros,, the bundle is for the New Nintendo 3DS XL model, and this will be released sometime in November, just a couple months after the release of the game in Japan.
The design looks like the same as the limited edition 3DS XL model that will be included with the game’s release.
I was thinking the same thing myself when they showed Shulk close up. It looked inferior graphically. But to run a game like Xenoblade on a handheld is a pretty impressive accomplishment even if it only scratches the ~30 FPS range.
I kinda like the ring "Super 3DS" has to it. Especially with the button design specifically being taken from the SNES as inspiration.
They seriously need to stop making up side down decals. That is that worst.
That's the stuff that's driving me nuts. This isn't a new handheld. Its an upgrade, yet there are games for this upgrade that don't work with the original.....sssss, because there's like 50 versions of the 3DS already. If Sony pulled this shit, people would flip their shit. Same with Microsoft.
Yeah, I get it; this is Nintendo's thing, but why do they get a free pass on it? I know Japan's gonna eat it up because MOBILE but jesus.
Edit: And yes, I'm firmly in the "I waited like, 3 years to get a 3DS to try not to be that guy who had to buy like 6 versions across its lifespan but here we are" camp. I got mine for Christmas this year and I couldn't even last a year without Nintendo releasing another one. That graphically looks the same.
This is approaching Iphone tier.
