Morgellons disease.

Does anyone have any experience with this? My wife was just diagnosed with it and she's scared out of her mind right now. The doctor said their is no cure and she's only the second case he's ever seen. Maybe if you know someone or have been through this yourself what did you do to relieve symptoms or maybe make it go away?
Edit: I know that some in the medical field used to call it delusional parasitosis but her doctor and I both have seen the black specks moving and worm like things coming from her skin.

used to? wiki seems pretty clear on the matter. if there's actually shit coming out of her skin, then it sounds to me like she's been misdiagnosed.

OOC Curiosity: How much water does your wife intake? Mostly sodas, little water? This could be completely unrelated, but if not a huge water drinker, it might be a liver issue.

Thanks for the info guys and if you read the links that were provided you can clearly see that the medical field is all over on this matter. And yes she does have a very high sugar intake she's a sugar junkie but you couldn't tell by looking at her she's only 115lbs.

Not what I meant. If she doesn't drink water and only sugary soft drinks, it could be liver damage. Liver damage = skin prombles, sometimess. Itching, scratching feeling.

Any doctor worth any salt would have checked liver enzymes, especially before committing to an obscure diagnosis.

And to those saying she was misdiagnosed if they actually seen something, that's not necessarily true. The fibers have been found before, it's not uncommon.

Personally, I think it was a huge mistake for your doctor to drop that diagnosis on you. If it is psychosis, it will exacerbate the issue. I'd recommend seeing a different physician and dermatologist.
