i read recently that there are actually atheist "churches" where people go on sundays and hang out. Functions pretty similar to church, minus the singing and preaching. It's supposed to be a sort of support network for atheists/agnostics, so they can honestly say "at church" when talking about what they did over the weekend with herpaderps like santorum, that sort of thing.

Morgan Spurlock actually did a show about this. Some of them do have singing, but instead of hymns they sing 80s rock lol. It's definitely not for everyone, but I guess for people who still want a sense of community and feel-goodness it's something.

I can see it being a pretty good deal for those people coming off religion and have a hole where the support of their church used to fill. But for a life long secularist, its still a rather peculiar thing. Like Quicklet says, not for everyone.
