Bernegois gil!?!

So recently walked by this npc and watched a few players talk to it then start spamming the item usage animation and the <playername> obtains gil came up a bit then they'd talk to npc again and repeat. Anyone got a clue what that is about?

I have no idea what NPC that is, but I think it's a vendor and that the gil you see people obtain by item usage comes from the boxes that drop from Incursion.
The boxes have a random chance to drop gil, NQs going from 15 to 100, HQ up to (I think) 300 and the NM boxes up to 3000.(?)

Otherwise all sorts of NPCable crap and capes comes from them.

Found him! Yeah, it's a vendor.
Pretty sure people pop their Incursion boxes close to him just to NPC the other crap they get from them.

Ah makes sense just seemed weird they'd pop some then npc then pop more over and over like that was wondering if it was something cool.

Full inventory, once you get the hang of the event you're looking at 100 or more boxes to open after every run.
And doing 2 to 5 runs per night....
