    Fans uncover cut Final Fantasy XIII content in the PC version

    Eager fans digging around through the available files found in the recent PC port of Final Fantasy XIII have discovered some of the unfinished content that had been left aside upon the game’s original release. The area, known as the Seventh Ark, was possibly intended as post-launch downloadable content. Within the dungeon, the developers had also placed a Nemesis boss, similar to the fal’Cie Anima players encounter near the beginning of the game. The area inside was eventually later reused in Fina Fantasy XIII-2 for the battle against the demi-fal’Cie Adam.

    According to the Final Fantasy XIII Ultimania Omega, Square Enix decided to cut this content because they felt it wasn’t quite up to the quality they wanted and “because of the great differences between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 network systems.” The Seventh Ark was originally planned to be a quest-like play and free battle area.


    It's neat. I think that's a unique boss model too, I don't recall that boss appearing in game? Shame he downs it so fast thanks to some sort of modification.

    This was actually found years ago when unpacking the console files.

    I'd love to see some real mods for the game. I've been able to do some rudimentary things like maxing CP, unlocking camera, and teleporting. Trying to see if there is a way to spawn monsters anywhere. If I get to that point, I want to start looking into monster behavior to see what might be modifiable.

    There's a lot more potential with it on PC. The best we could do on the console was edit the save files to get to that point. We might see a bit more now that it is easier to play with.

    I'd be effected by the esc key if I actually played the game.

    Maybe they can add a options menu when pressing esc key.

    I didn't have any real framerate issues as I was playing, especially to the level that some people have indicated. I have only been running at 2x resolution downsampled in borderless fullscreen, though, so maybe that is why.

    The issue has nothing to do with resolution really, the game simply can't run at 60 FPS properly and some people are getting severe FPS drops whenever some HUD element is on screen (like the minimap, during battle,etc.).
    I've yet to hear anyone getting stable 60 FPS with no dips even at 720p, a friend of mine got capped at 30 as soon as he hit Bresha.

    Yeah, I pretty much get the same fps at 720p as i get using gedesota rendering at 4k downscaled to 2560x1440. That is to say, i get shit fps no matter what.

    Finally got it to work by uninstalling and reinstalling gedosato to a different drive. Changed Shadow rez to 4 per recommendation from hey.

    I am having low fps, but it isnt really bothering me as much as the MASSIVE screen tearing. I can live with it running ~30 fps if it doesnt spike. But the screen tearing is ridiculous.

    Been running the game at 1920x1080 with GeDoSaTo this whole time and have not had the issues most of you guys are claiming. I have noticed 3-4 times in the entire game so far that I've noticeably seen FPS drop.

    560ti stock
    12GB RAM
    Installed on RAID-0 500 GB drives.

    Im running it at 2560x1440 with

    i7-3770k
    GTX 970
    16 GB Ram
    on a HDD

    Only time the game doesnt have issues is during combat. The FPS jumps but it still runs clean w/o tearing.

    Everywhere else, game has like 2-3 tears on the screen at once.

    I'm enjoying playing FFXIII again on the PC. Glad to see they are working on an update. Hopefully this means when FFXIII-2 comes out, there will be resolution options and stuff by default.
