    Random Poll Question II

Inspired by the other thread, I too want to ask you all a question.

Do you prefer to consume soup with a spoon, or pick up the plate/bowl/cup (for those instants) and "drink" your soup?

My problem is that the soup tastes less tastier and up to a point, less soupy if I don't use a spoon, whereas using a spoon allows me to enjoy it more.

I'll "drink" the last bits of my soup if I need to dash off elsewhere, otherwise I'll use my spoon to clean it up nicely.

Should be more options. I use the spoon to eat everything in the soup; then put it down and drink the broth from the bowl

Ah, it's just a question of what function is more dominant. I could add a hybrid option like you suggested.

edit: i don't think i can edit the poll

It really depends on the type, origin, and serving size of the soup. For small serving Asian origin soups, I'll drink it. For large serving (meal) type soups (Pho, Ramen) I'll use a spoon. For all western type soups, spoon only.

Hm, even on Miso soups I use a spoon haha. When I "drink" it the taste goes out of proportion/weird for me.

Though, in some of my mum's chinese soups, I use an extra large spoon (soup scoops? dunno what you'd call them)

Where's my option of using a knife?

And kind of iffy, I use spoon all the way for thicker soups but I use spoon til broth method if it's a thin soup.

Thanks! But that option irks me too. I like to evenly distribute my bits with the broth haha!

If it's a very thin liquid soup I could see you just drinking it but I'd like to enjoy it with a spoon/bowl. I could pace myself and treat it like tea..... but that would be weird since I've never done that. Otherwise third option is best!

Oh also this question for some reason brought back memories of the banana Bonus JP question during the JP/NA FFXI Elmerthepointy days...

    Option #3 fo sho.

I also eat more food than not with a spoon. I don't understand using a fork for stuff like rice/rice dishes, or small pasta (shells, mac n cheese, etc), or mashed potatoes, or etc.

I get for some people it's a manners thing, but unless I'm at a fancy dinner and/or with strangers I'd rather just eat the food the easier way.

Can't eat salad with a spoon... unless you have a spoon +1... err spork

  14. #14

Salad and spaghetti are with forks! And meat or bigger vegetables (broccoli, etc), or anything that is obviously easier with a fork.

    Better question:
Is the fork or spoon the superiour utensil?
    The answer is a spoon.

Almost sounds like would you prefer to fight with a spear or shield?

spoons can't stab someone for stealing food off my plate; fork is a better utensil. sporks are best, though.

I use a spoon until the spoon is no longer efficient and i'm picking up a small amount then I drink. Except for ramen cups, I use a fork with a ramen cup then just drink the broth.

Actually, I didn't consider ramen, that is one exception I guess.

If I'm having NQ ramen (pot/packets), then yup fork til broth and drink, occasionally I'll drink in between consuming ramen
For HQ ramen (i.e. served at an establishment) then it's fork and spoon, enjoy the goodness of the HQ soup with the ramen it's meant for, and drink if anything is left, although I tend to distribute it evenly until I finish
