I was going to say that this is the best thing ever, but then I got a message in game telling me where to get bright/brilliant, making it better than the best thing ever.
I just wish more people used it. I told my raid group over TS last night about the light tracker and got a collective "What's guildwork?" from most of them
Guildwork doing dat werk.
Downloaded it immediately.
Careful that OF doesn't find out, cuz YOU BIG MEENIE CHEATER
In all honestly, wished this came out earlier (don't need lights and hunts anymore )
well, good thing for you guys
cos JP never use GW. so shit will never get updated for hunts/shout etc etc hahaha
good for lights i guess
Am I right in seeing that this has cross-game remote chat?
It looks like I can send a message to someone playing FFXI from XIV. That's pretty sweet. Wish it had been around before FFXI fizzled out.
If you have an IOS device you can even chat directly in XIV (assuming your chracter is logged in)
Seems a bit risky to use, given SE's stance on third-party applications...
risky how?
unless you're running through zones shouting "hey i'm using Guildwork's third party application lol" there's nothing that will come of it. doesn't alter anything server side to be detected.
It's about as risky as windower is for FFXI. It's hooking the incoming/outgoing packets (is done by default in windower) and defines what to do with them (handled by plugins in windower). The remote chat almost certainly involves packet injection, but outside of that it should be read-only.
This actually got brought up on reddit earlier (twice, actually). The general consensus seems to be "OMG IT BAD DONT USE"

The FFXI app was nice and this one has a few better features.
Guildwork in XI didn't become as populated and widely used as it is currently until windower 4 imo. Prior to that it was something that had to be advertised by word of mouth, we don't have any kind of launcher that slaps a bunch of things in front of you for addons(yet) because no fucking API still. So much for "That will be around in 2.1 or 2.2".
Then again, if/when user API does come out, it would wipe out guildwork's functions in a heart beat I'm certain.
Wipe out my ass, more like enhance what there is (nothing.)
It would just enable it to be a all-encompassing addon instead of a third party program.
By wipe out, I ment, any premium features would go out the door.
Is there any way to confine the guildwork notifications to a single chat window? It shows in every one of my chat windows and the spam from it gets a little crazy at times.
